Decisions?

The above posts are not true at all. I have 3.9 UW GPA, 1370 SAT with 287 Toefl, and I still got the "pending" notice. But maybe that's just because i'm international. My AI is way above 70.

Wish it was April; mind posting your SAT/GPA?

beramod, pending as in you are waiting preliminary review? In any case, intl is prob on a diff timeline.

Hmm... my AI is 84 so I wouldn't think it would take this long. It's been over six weeks since I applied.

pple above 70 AI shouldnt worry too much...the uw reads applications so random that someone who applied in oct could be the last guy on the "pile" (seems they review each app and if its above 70 they say "good enough" and if it's not then they'll do initial review which I think means that they ll check back on it later once all the 70+ are in...to see how much room they got left for the below 70ers).

Hey, I just got my acceptance letter to the UW today and I sent my application in on December 1. Up until January 4, my status online said "pending intial review." However, I have a 4.0 uwGPA and a 32 ACT so I know that my AI is way above 70 (I don't know what it is exactly since I've never seen the charts.. I'm basing this off of beramod's post.) This contradicts seven's post because my AI is above 70, but I still waited a month for an "initial review." However, once they reviewed my application, it probably only took them 3 or 4 days to decide on my acceptance since I received the letter on the 9th and they reviewed it on the 4th.

The point of my post is to reassure everyone who has an AI over 70, but still haven't received a decision or any activity on their account online. They are probably receiving so many applications that it'll take about a month just for them to get to your application. In fact, my friend who has very similar stats as me applied a week or so before the December 1 deadline and she just received her letter yesterday, Wednesday. I hope this helps!

What I find interesting though is that at WSU (Washington State University...boo! Go Huskies!), people have received their decisions like 3-5 days after they sent in their application... no joke! Granted, the UW probably receives so many more applications than WSU, but receiving a decision in 3 days is not bad at all.

ur the first case i have heard of getting initial review with such high stats...but it seems that most pple get the "reviewed" only before they get accepted.

WSU is such a party school

pending initial review, or awaiting preliminary review?

"Your application has been reviewed. All applicants are informed of admission decisions by mail when results of the review process become available." if ur refering to my last post Dopke

oh, i was asking rovee...

My account said Message A on December 13 and changed to congrats you were accepted on the 18th.

ok sorry guys, i'm a little confused by your posts and your questions.. but thats ok! yeah, i think that since i submitted my application on Dec 1, my app must have been in w/ the huge pile of applications that were submitted right on the priority deadline, which could have been why i received my decision so late. i dont know if this will help, but i'll just go over my experience again:

Dec. 1: turned in application
Dec. 2-Jan. 3: status on website was "Your application is awaiting preliminary review..." (btw, what's the "pending intial review?")
Jan. 4: status on website was something where my application has been reviewed and is waiting on a decision
Jan. 5: accepted (according to the date on my acceptance letter)
Jan. 9: received acceptance letter

Ok, I found my AI on the chart on the hecb.wa.gov website and it is a 91 (32 ACT, 4.0 uwGPA). By the way, it seemed like everyone that I know at my school who applied to the UW had to go through an intial review, disregarding their AI.

so u did not get pending initial review...which means that all of my posts are right! =P

You didn't go through initial review if you went from Prelim to Reviewed like you said. Seven is right :)

ok, cool.. haha, i'm still a little confused about all of this but no worries! What's the difference between prelimanary and initial review?

everyone starts out with prelimanary. But "initial..." is also given to a LOT of people except people with high stats who currently are getting the message:
"Your application has been reviewed. All applicants are informed of admission decisions by mail when results of the review process become available."

Initial basically means that you don't have high enough stats for u to get an auto-acceptance. But people who have gotten this message shouldn't be worried because it doesnt really mean anything bad.

Alrite, my time here is over! Thanks for all the help guys, I'll still check in a bit though. :)

Nov 4 - Received on myuw.washington.edu marked as awaiting preliminary review
Jan 5 - Changed from preliminary review to reviewed
Jan 7 - Acceptance letter snail mail arrived

Now I'll be lurking in the UC forums more now, will be awaiting decision from UC Berkeley and UCSD in March :) Bye!

I'm an international living in South Carolina with 85 AI (3.9uw 1370 sat), and myuw says that my application was given an initial review and decision is pending... Does that mean i'm rejected??? or maybe internationals are all like that?
