Decisions?

I know that GPA is very important to the admission pple. 3.55 & 1240 should cut it assuming the essay is brilliant as u said. What school does she go to? Competitive schools help too.

Oh and btw my friend showed me this message.

"Your application was given an initial review, and a final admission decision is pending. If further information is required, we will contact you by mail."

He said it recently changed after being prelim rev for six weeks or so. Did anyone else get that?

It is an interesting message. As I am always preaching to my kids; patience is a virtue. Time to practice what I preach. I will check back in when my d hears something one way or another. Till then; I wish all the fine young people posting here the best of luck.

Back to that message. It really does seem there are all kinds of messages for different situations. It might even be the case decisions are being made by so many admissions workers that there are not any consistent protocols for how to notify and update applicants. Maybe everyone is doing their own thing? Some people hear by mail; some by myuw; some get messages between preliminary review and decision and some don't. The above message seems ominous and yet it is too early for outright rejection unless and app. is way out of line? And, I still don't know if decisions are made by one person; or several people acting alone with consensus checking by others; or; by a committee of three or more.

After the dust clears I intend to explore these issues further.

JT's and Hefs who got accepted apparantly got this before they got accepted:

"Your application has been reviewed. All applicants are informed of admission decisions by mail when results of the review process become available."

vs my friends

""Your application was given an initial review, and a final admission decision is pending. If further information is required, we will contact you by mail."

UH OH...if he doesnt get in I ll be lonely =(

Did you get in seven? I think all these people who have an index of 70 or above like me aren't getting their decision yet because either they didn't turn it in by the priority deadline (that includes getting all your scores and transcripts there by the deadline, which I did) or maybe the admin office really did take a week long break. I was surprised to hear back so early on mine considering I'm out of state with just an API of 70. Submitted on Nov 23, admitted on Dec 18

mine is still awatin pre review...sucks

but I sent in my transcript not too long ago (didnt know they wanted it) so I'm not really surprised they still hvnt checked my appli

seven- i honestly think RS students are not taken looked at until jan 15th so that there is time to send in our fall grades (i emailed them, and we are supposed to send updated grades from our comm. college). none of my other RS friends have gotten past prelim review either.

i'm pretty sure my friend who got this message did RS last yr but i ll ask him when he gets on.

for the transcript thing, i e-mailed em too but they said i didnt need to. But i think i ll do it in a week if my status doesnt change.

edit: Here is the reply to my e-mail.

"If you recorded on your application all the courses that will not appear on the transcripts you had sent then you do not send the new transcripts. If anything is missing from your application then you will be notified by mail."

I just re-read it and apperantly they don't want us to re-send it lol. I thought it was like optional. Maybe she doesnt know what she s talking bout =/...

That's really bizarre how they have different answers for different people.

"It is not a problem that
you sent your most current Running Start transcripts with your grades;
this is exactly what is required. Furthermore, it is not a problem that
you listed these courses on the application."

That's what I got in my e-mail. Also, the admission person also said this in regards to priority deadline:

"As long as all pieces of your application besides
the transcripts were received by the priority date, then you will not be
penalized for submitting your transcripts later."

Wow. I applied around December 15 and got the letter around the 24th. Lucky Lucky me.

Dopke-i think u might ve explained it wrong to her because she says "it is not a problem that you listed these courses on the application" (and the fact that she says it's REQUIRED to. I'm 99.9% sure we arent required to send it fall quarter grades unless they mail us saying so). Of course you are suppose to list all the courses you took/will take on the application. But that one page said "list all the courses that will NOT appear on your transcripts being currently sent." I personally put in all my RS classes that I will be taking this year (fall is done now).

I really think that sending a more updated one will be better since there are more grades but the questions is if we can without confusin them. According to my person, we aren't suppose to but god knows if they even know.

Does anyone think I should call up UW to see about my application? I applied on like November 4th and my application still hasn't gone out of preliminary review. :(

You might try calling. They are pretty nice about it. I applied 11/12 and I'm still just waiting too. The other day I got this big purple envelope and I thought "great! it's from the University of Washington!" I opened it and it was from Hiram College. That was a huge disappointment.

i think all international applicants get the "initial review... decision pending" on their myuw. Can't wait till feb. 1370 sat, 287 toefl, 790 iic, 680 chem, 630 writing, 3.9 uw, top 10%.

My message changed from awaiting initial review to "Your application has been reviewed. All applicants are informed of admission decisions by mail when results of the review process become available." I applied Dec 1, with 3.6/1480 instate. Any idea how long it takes to get the letter in the mail?

Mine said that on Dec. 13 and I got mail Dec. 18...i'm out of state.

In-state, you'll get on Thursday most likely or Friday.

All you Running-start students still in preliminary? Anyone give them a call to actually ask if RS students take longer to process?

Guys, its tough but settle down. UW is kinda slow about it because they only have so many spaces and want to make the best decision possible. Also, they read all personal statements and that certainly takes time.

Im an RS student that applied on 12/1 and my status just changed to "Your application was given an initial review, and a final admission decision is pending. If further information is required, we will contact you by mail."

Are you guys (with 1350+) really planning on going to UW or are you just using it as your safety?

beramod- why go to UW with those stats lol...if u really wanna attend school in WA go to Whitman
