Deferred, Help!

Hi guys,
I was deferred from FSU with:
- 3.91 weighted GPA
-3,24 unweighted GPA
- 1970 SAT
- amazing ECs such as Student Government, 4 years of a varsity sport, and many honor societies

I called admissions and they told me I was deferred because I received a D my freshman year. I sent in my mid-year transcripts with 2 As, 2 Bs, and 2 Cs because I slacked off senior year. Do you think I will get accepted after being deferred despite the 2 Cs?

Please help, Im super worried!

Bump

2 A’s, 2 B’s, and 2 C’s lowers your GPA even further. If you were already differed, I see no reason why they would accept you now.

I have to agree. Your GPA will be decreasing most likely. Your grades aren’t stellar. If you have already been deferred because of low grades, having Cs could be a red flag. There will be plenty of students in your position whose grades don’t have any Cs that will likely get accepted over you.

I don’t believe you got deferred because of a D freshman year. Junior or senior year, yes, but not freshman year. There was some other reason. I do agree that your two C’s put you in an almost impossible situation.

I have contacted FSU Admissions consistently and have kept them updated and explained my situation to them so hopefully that will help. I did receive a couple C’s throughout highschool so maybe that contributed to the decision…

That is exactly the case, actually. FSU will basically automatically defer anyone anymore for a D or an F on your transcript from ANY year. This is because FSU has gotten more competitive and now anything can be the reason that you are not accepted. Any grade below a C is now cause for automatic deferment anymore. This has been the case at FSU for a couple years now and is only going to continue as FSU has to get more and more selective.

Pasbal, would updating FSU consistently and continuously letting them know that FSU is my dream school help?

It doesn’t matter whether FSU is your dream school. I’m sure the admissions officers have a continuous flood of emails from applicants that say that FSU is their “dream” school.

Keeping them up to date and showing that you are on top of things if they become questionable is a bigger help than anything.
