Deferred... help!

So unfortunately I got the email saying that they will re-evaluate my application based on first semester grades. My grades are decent except I got my first C+ in AP Gov. I'm worried this will make me pretty hopeless in the RD pool. I also got accepted to Penn State and I love it there, so should I just give up the Michigan dream and enroll there? I'm sick of waiting and I'm not sure I can bear it for another 4 months. Any advice would be appreciated.

How ever can you bear waiting? Life must be so hard. If you want to go here, you’ll wait. If you can’t “bear” waiting for a decision, then drop your application. Seems pretty pathetic if it is your dream school though.

that was pretty mean, don’t listen to that guy. if you really want to go to penn state and do not want to wait, and you’re sure that is what you want to do, withdraw your application. This way you will not take the spot of someone who really wants to go to Michigan in the RD pool. However, if Michigan is your dream, and you think you have a chance of admission, why not go for it? It’s up to you.

AM5888 You are to hear from UofM early-mid april and you have until May 1st to admit to any college. You already have admittance to Penn State so thats great! But if you got into the UofM and would definitley choose it over Penn State, I would wait. Worse comes to worse UofM doesnt accept you and you will still be able to enroll in Penn State. Just be carefull however not to wait too long. I know that last year UofM had some trouble with get those april decisions back and so it was pretty stress full to make the May 1st deadline for some people.

Yes, it’s mean to mock someone because they don’t know if they can bear the brutal pain of waiting for a college decision.

Okay so I got deferred from University of Michigan and was wondering how I send in extra stuff like artwork or essays or anything really. I want to help my application, but how do I send it to the admissions office? Is it done through mail, email or what? I really want to know so that I can help my application stand out when they review it again.

I know how u all feel…it stinks, but at least we get a second chance  Oh and to AM5888 I got into Penn State too!!!

I was deferred last year too and had 3 Bs and a C+ in Calc AB. I ended up getting accepted, so don’t give up hope! I would at the same time suggest looking at other options and not letting everything ride on Michigan. If Michigan was the school you set your heart on start looking at your backups/other options and find your favorite so that your life won’t be ruined if you don’t get in.

But again, don’t give up hope!

When I got the deferral letter it said that they would let us know by mid-April. My friend last year got deferred from Engineering school and as soon as his second semester grades came in, he sent them in. A week later he figured out that he got accepted. I think they do like another batch of acceptances after they get second semester grades or after people retake the ACT and send in their scores.
