Deferred- should I bother?

I was deferred from GT but I’m wondering if I should even worry about filling out the supplemental information. I did great my first sem. of my senior year, so it’s not that I’ve been a slacker. But I have a couple of admits to other great programs including Purdue & honors at Univ. of Maryland.
Am I right in thinking I would not be eligible for honors or any kind of scholarship at GT at this point? I’m OOS so it does matter. My ACT scores are above the average GT EA admit.

There is no way for anyone outside of admissions to assess your chances of being admitted RD. And you’re the only one that can determine if it’s worth your time to fill out the supplemental information. It sounds like you have some great options available to you! It would seem that merit based scholarships would be unlikely to come your way. And it is true that Honors applications are currently available only to those students that have been admitted EA. However, GT typically opens Honors applications for a short period early in the fall semester for all first years to apply. I have no idea how many are placed in the Honors program during this fall application cycle - or if that will happen again this year. I know you will be very successful wherever you end up! Good luck!

Hey, thanks for your reply @3567monroe. So I guess we’re in agreement about my chances for anything special from GT. Oh well.
I really like GT, but since I am OOS there really is no compelling reason why I should go there when I have good alternatives. And if I’m probably not going to go there in the end because of these things, maybe I’m wasting everyone’s time in sending in the deferred student info? I think that’s kind of where I’m at though it would be neat to say I got in B-)
Also, maybe it’s just a bad fit for me probably I would do better in a place that I felt really wanted me to come. I’m just kind of bummed but yep I do I have good choices and am still waiting on Cal Poly.

@emptyMT

Scholarships are very very rare at GT for OOS students no matter how talented. Everyone we know pays cash or takes a loan.

MyGT freshman son got placed in honors at the end of the first semester, But honors classes are open to anyone.
He took them first semester at GT, Honors Linear Algebra even though he was not in honors. Honors is just a freshman dorm and all the academics are pretty tough after freshman year. The only reason my son applied to Honors at GT was to get into a sophomore living situation with his friends in Honors. Also registration is a tad easier if one is in honors, but the academics are identical really in or out of honors, you will be challenged at GT so do not worry at all about the special freshman honors dorm at GT. In fact, this year, the Honors dorm is on the quiet side of campus away from the football stadium, so regular dorms may be more convenient to social events and football games.

The other freshman dorm offered is Grand Challenges. They gender balance both Grand Challenges and Honors at GT and they are largely living groups. So don’t worry about this at GT, but in fact you may still have a chance at both I don’t know.

At U of Maryland, Honors may mean a lot more, but check. Often Honors is just hype and a freshman experience.

Arizona State is the only public program I know of where Honors is a completely harder program than the regular kids are getting. At ASU Honors means something. Most other schools, Honors is hype and a dorm! Honors matters not a bit I would tell you at Georgia Tech. Everyone is working hard for their degree. So do not sweat that at all.

@emptyMT

I agree with @Coloradomama, I wouldn’t sweat getting in the Honors College. But, I was wondering, did you decide to submit the supplemental information?
