I was deferred pending receipt of my first semester grades. For the first marking period I received all As.

Does anyone know how they decided on people who were deferred?
Do they compare your new stats to the rest of the applicant pool, do they just base it off how much you improved, or what?
And if I continue to increase do you think I'm pretty much in, or is there still a good chance to be denied?
I am panicking like crazy, so thanks for any feedback.

If they’re waiting on your first semester grades, than your best bet is to give them the best results that you can. Try for all A’s and B’s, and that will show them you’re serious about your school work.

Also, if you want a little more security about it, you could always try retaking your ACT and/or SAT in December. If you do, request that your scores be sent to UCF as soon as they’re available.

Do you think they would just be looking at my grades because that’s what they deferred me for? Or do you think they’re reconsidering me like they would any freshman applicant? Tell me if that doesn’t make sense lol.

I think if they say because of your grades than it’s really because of your grades.

Is that your weighted GPA or unweighted?

I’ve heard admissions reps say in the past that they’ll usually tell you what it’s for, whether it’s for your first semester grades or test scores, etc. If you’re border-line, they may want your first semester grades not only so they have more time to consider you, but also so they can see if you’re really serious about your school work right now.

it was probably recalculated to a 3.3-3.4. and i did email elizabeth costello too and that is what happened. i have a meeting for prospective ucf students and i am talking to the admissions officer after so i guess i can have him clarify this a little more.
