So I basically was rejected by SDSU... Does that mean I'm probably not the "UC" type? I'm afraid the couple of UC schools I applied to will reject me.

Just bc one state school denied you, that does not mean you’ll automatically be rejected other schools. (Including Ucs) don’t be a Debbie downer!

Hopefully.

Not at all. :)

Cheer up dear. If you haven’t heard from any UC’s yet I have good info for you. I got denied too and my stats are pretty good, but like you I was doubting my chances of getting into and UC’s. My friend also got denied but she got into UCSD lol. I got into Riverside (nothing to brag about lol). You will get into at least one UC lol.

There are a number of CSUs that are harder to gain admittance to than some of the UC campuses, particularly if you are applying from outside the CSU’s service area. SDSU is one of the most competitive State Schools and probably turns away a fair number of applicants that would be accepted at a number of UCs.

jshelterz- Well, Congrats :)

Lemaitre1- Do you mean as in out of California? Or just in general their local area?

CSUs have areas, usually the county they are located in and maybe an adjacent one which they regard as their “service areas”. They often have close relationships with the high schools, for freshman applicants, and community colleges, for transfer students in these areas. Most of the CSUs give strong preference for admission to applicants applying from high schools and community colleges in their service areas.

My son didn’t get into any of the CSU schools he applied to. We were pretty surprised at first considering his GPA & test scores but when we learned how many applicants there were and how few were accepted, it made sense.

Lemaitre1-Oh, well that makes sense. Thanks!

Haroof- That’s a bummer. But yeah, it’s understandable when you look at how many people applied especially if his major was impacted.
