D was accepted today via campusconnect. We are still waiting for official merit offer. Anybody else?

Where are on campusconnect does it say your daughter was accepted? Can’t seem to find anything.

Just “Application Complete” - as it has been for weeks now.

on the left navigation panel you should see ‘for admitted students’ tab (above ‘for applied students’ tab). Also, your to do summary is updated with immunization info.

How long was it for you between application and acceptance?

My D had everything completed according to their portal on 10/01. I don’t know why it took them that long.

So, it could be a while… D’s was completed October 25.

Their EA used to be rolling last year. We know kids who got accepted in early Nov. I guess this year is different. Still 12/8 is better then 1/15. If your application marked as complete, you probably will hear back soon.

My S also was accepted for EA. We learned about it by searching around Campus Connect after reading psblstnr’s post. Thanks!
To check, just go to Campus Connect, click on “For Admitted Students” and if you are accepted there is a lot of information- including the following under the “Admitted Student Response” tab.
“Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to DePaul University for the term and program of study listed below. Please submit your Admitted Student Response by selecting the “accept/decline” button.”

leila - congrats! How high Depaul is on your S’s list?

My S wants to major in Computer Game Development and DePaul ranks pretty high in that category every year in the Princeton review, so DePaul is probably in his top 5 schools. He also loves the idea of being in a city. He took a summer game design class at the loop campus and loved the experience. We are also waiting for merit scholarship information. Do you have any idea when or how that will be communicated?

So far, other colleges notified us about acceptances online and merit offers were send thru regular mail. I would expect to get something from Depaul really soon, possibly before Christmas. I don’t think they will post any awards online.

I applied 10/15 but for some reason it showed up as incomplete even though I did it through common app. Just recently it stated that it is complete. How long do you think it will take? Also chance me perhaps :D, please read the updates at the bottom http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1379256-do-i-have-chance-getting-into-depaul.html

redpanda - it seems that Depaul started the notification process as several people got accepted today and you should hear from them soon. I cannot chances you, but being CS major myself, I can tell you that C grade in Calculus is not enough and you probably will have to repeat it in college, plus you have to build on it for your next math courses like Discrete and Linear. Our family is also from Eastern Europe and I hope that you emphasized your culture and ethnicity in your essays. Good luck

Thank you, and I am perfectly fine with taking calculus again. It isn’t the case of I’m bad at math, it’s the case of I’m focusing my studies more towards my other classes which my grades have risen since that update. Also to follow up on Comp Sci, I took the ap class junior year and ended with a b- and loved the hell out of the class. Will I have an advantage over other people when I enter the class or should I continue practicing coding. Lastly, no, I did not reference anything about my parents and the culture that I was raised in, which in hind sight, I probably should have. I did reference somewhere in the application that my parents aren’t from the US and I will be the first one to receive a degree in the US but not in my essay. Instead I wrote my essay about a depression stage that I went through freshman year that caused the poor grades you saw and how an online video game motivated me to get back into my studies. Sounds quirky but it did and it still does today. Anyways you think although the poor overall gpa, the trend will help play in my favor?

panda - Depaul’s incoming fresh average GPA was 3.55 last cycle, ACT 23-28, their acceptance rate was 64%. They consider rigor, GPA, essay and test scores ‘very important’ according to their CDS. 15% of enrolled students had GPA below 3.0. I don’t want to raise your hopes up, but you probably have a chance. Do you need to apply separately to CS program? Do you know if they will take AP Calc for your major requirements?

DePaul puts out a lot of statistics about the applicant pools every year, but I hear counselors say this on a daily basis- you never know your chance of getting accepted to a school until you submit an application. It never hurts to try! DePaul reviews applications on a holistic approach, so even if one does not have an ACT score or GPA that falls into the category and range of most students, there is a chance of this student still being accepted.
In short-apply! :)

Cassie Snyder

My application was finished October sixteenth and I can’t see a “for admitted students” tab. Any other ways to find out if I’m accepted, or should I be worried?

Cassie, is it done by college - for example, are applicants for CDM evaluated together? Or is it geographical? Or just however a particular admissions officer chooses to do it?

To mollyross: All official acceptance decisions are mailed to your home. Until you physically receive a letter in the mail, nothing is official. However, if you see a “For Admitted Students” tab pop up before you receive a letter, I would take that as a good sign But do not worry, it might take until January 15th to receive your decision, but count on it being before then. Our counselors are pretty good at keeping up with files in a timely matter. But be sure to check on Campus Connect that all of your materials for your application are complete on your check list.

To mamaduck: Counselors review files geographically, meaning different counselors are assigned in reviewing applicants from select states and areas surrounding Chicago. Regardless of what their intended major is, their applications are pooled together geographically.
