My High school GPA was 3.0
My ACT 18
I took average classes, 2 yrs of foreign language, 3 yr of math, 4/5 English, 4/5 Social studies and 3 yr of science.

I screwed up really bad my freshman year simply because i wasn't serious about school which is the reason why i have such a bad GPA. Suffered with binge eating disorder which left me depressed and i screwed up on my ACTS. My hs transcript does show a pattern of me improving since 9th grade.

So i decided to go to a community college and transfer out after my first year of college.
Now my question is if i can maintain a 4.0(or anything close to that) and take 15 or more credits per semester, will i be in good standing to transfer to any of these schools?

University of Michigan
Michigan State
Penn state(university park)
UCLA
University of Miami
Duke

Thanks for the help
I’m really hoping to get in this year though
When do you recommend i start applying? I know the deadline for transfer students for most schools is March 15

My biggest concern is me transferring so early. Most of the people who did terrible in hs transferred after two or more years(from what i’ve seen on here). I will only have 15 college credits by the time i apply.

All I know is that for Penn State - University Park, you’ll need 60 credit hours (junior) to transfer there. That’s what an adcom told me, and it states so on the university’s website.

When I called them, they told me that it was 18 hours for any of the branch campuses, but 60 hours for University Park. Maybe it reqs differ per major, but I didn’t bring that up, and was told 60 hours is needed to transfer to the main campus.

I wouldn’t recommend UCLA if you’re OOS, and Duke is an extreme reach as a soph transfer from a CC. Remember, as a soph transfer, you will be evaluated mostly on your HS record and test scores.

Those are still reaches because you will still be judged on your high school transcript. Maybe you could retake the ACTs/SATs? Also, focus on your CC because you need to do as well as you possibly can.

I didn’t know we could re-take the Tests.
I should probably do that. Would you recommend i take the SAT test since i haven’t taken it yet or just take the ACT again?
