Did anyone else get a call from a Stanford professor recently?

I got a call from a Stanford prof saying, "Come to Stanford!" Kinda neat. Did anyone else get a similar call?

whoa. crazy. goodjob, dude.
was he specific to your major? what is your major? was he someone ridiculously famous or something?

so i guess we all can just sit back and let our colleges try to win us over...like Shaw said at the banquet. yay

a friend of mine who was accepted scea got a call from a professor who won a nobel prize.

how crazy is that?

Last year, I submitted some music stuff along with my application, and I later got a call from a music professor who had seen it, asking if I had any questions about the music department or music opportunities.

Sly, do you continue your involvement with music at Stanford?

Not specific to my major (biology), per se, but he's a human biology professor and I'm pre-med and he teaches an introductory seminar about the process of becoming a doctor. "The seminar is intended for sophomores," he said, "but I can add you to it as a freshman if you'd like."

Purplerain, the funny thing was that that was the third call from a third college in three consecutive days! An alum from St. Mary's on Wednesday, a freshman from Rice on Thursday, and a professor from Stanford on Friday. I kind of like this.

It is flattering to get a call, unless they call everybody, in which case you might wonder whether they couldn't be spending their time on something more productive. Of course, if they can answer specific questions you have, it might actually be productive.

aw...nobody loves me! :(
there's an entire class for hte PROCESS of becoming a doc? lol. seems a tad unnecessary.
good job and remind me to punch you when i meet you in april. grrr

We love you!

Yah, he e-mailed me the syllabus, and I think I'll just read a few of the books they go through. Besides, there's a cancer immunology intro sem that interests me more. I'll remind you to punch me in April...where are we all meeting, anyway?

uh...i think we'er gonna wander around but with like green strings tied to our right wrist or something...and most of us from cali are meeting at the airport so we can get lost together...
what happened to that thread?

Yes, I still do music. I'm in the Band and Wind Ensemble, and I also play with the orchestra when I'm needed. I'm also learning to do arranging with the Band.

You guys are lucky! I didn't get a call from a professor, but I did receive two calls from currents students, who answered general questions.

No, but the president emeritus called my mom. ;)

It might be more impressive if important people hed something more important to do than hustle prospective freshpersons.

My daughter was admitted in February as an early regular decision candidate and got a call from a professor in her intended major about two weeks later. It certainly makes you feel wanted.
