Did anyone get rejected?

^ exactly what he said haha

I've heard thaT UCSD does not read your essays. That they just scan it for any additional info that they can give you points for in the categories.

Really, Christian? You got a 1570 SAT and got accepted and into a bio major, that's crazy. And seems improbable, you are gonna be a bio major with a 450 on the Bio SAT II

Man I got REJECTED...

4.1 UC GPA
SAT I: 2290 (800CR 780M 710W)
SATII: 780 Bio M, 730 Lit
National Merit/Achievement Semifinalist
AP Scholar
Science Olympiad/Bowl
Band 4 years, Music-Related ECs

Major: Biochemistry and Cell Biology
1st Choice College: Revelle

^^Could these be the reason? I have no idea...UCSD was one of my top choices, higher than LA even...Maybe I should have taken the Chem SAT II instead of Literature? Maybe it was community service, I didn't have very many hours at all.

I'm guessing it was your major.. it was probably impacted

OK, that makes sense. Still a bit bummed out though... Ugh I applied as a MCB major at Berkeley, now I'm just gonna expect another rejection...

Wow hotjava that's really harsh... your stats are amazing. I mean, I can see why I got rejected (3.7 gpa and 2050 sat). Have hope! Your stats are better than alot of people.

Maybe I should have taken the Chem SAT II instead of Literature?
-I thought you can't take 2 sciences right?

I hate how they give extra points if your parents make less than ~40k... and "life hardships" Pooo. I know a lot of people that probably didn't deserve it. So lame. My friend got in with a 3.9ish GPA, mediocre sat score, no ECs, and she barely took any honors/AP classes... I took more than twice the amount she took, had twice the ECs, SAT score that was 300 higher, JUST A LOWER GPA... grrrr.

hotjava64, what was your alternate major? Your rejection does not make sense. According to ucsd site, if your first major is impacted, you are selected to ucsd first, then evaluated against your majors. If your first major is impacted, you will be considred for second major. They recommend not to be put second major as impacted. But if you did put even that as impacted, you will be put undeclared in the school, and you have to seek admission to specific schools after getting in the college (as in Marshall, Revelle, etc). So it is hard to believe you got rejected based on major alone.

Lol hot java, you probably missed the cut by 100 or so points since you don't have any leadership or service. All you have are gpa and test scores. At least you'll get into the lower UCs.

Has anyone heard what the point cut off for this year was? Just curious...

7702 minimum to be offered Winter admit and 7738 for a Fall offer

Aw, that's so sad. I'm thinking of calling them and seeing what's up, maybe they'll tell me why I didn't make it.

did anyone get into ucla but not sd??

@mango.lassi: My alternate major was Microbiology

dang, I just got rejected from UCLA, too. I guess Lebron's right (the jerk).

well i got rejected from UCLA.. I was half expecting this and half not but oh well..

Gotta wait for UCB now!

UCSD will most likely be where I will be going :P

ive heard a lot of people get into cal without getting into la so.. christian i think youll be ok lol

thanks for the hope :D

That's really quite strange. They must be going hardcore on the point system, or percentages, or whichever. I was truly mediocre, with a 3.75 UC GPA, and a 1970 SAT I Score, with my two SAT II's being 650 and 660, but for some reason, they accepted me.

Rejected. ): I did get into UCLA, but I really wanted to go to UCSD. T_T
Unweighted GPA: 4.0
Weighted GPA: 4.4
SAT: 2070 / 750 / 670

You can call the admissions office and they'll tell you why you were rejected. Apparently I was only 166 points away from 7738. What killed me was "leadership" and volunteering, which I didn't have a lot of. ):< Gaah.

starskimmer, you weren't offered winter admission? Your stats are better than mine, but I probably had more EC stuff.
