Hi, my friends all had interview except for me. At first I thought it was just they didn’t have enough interviewers which is kind of off since I’m from NC. However, today I realized I had 2 calls from burlington about 2 weeks ago. I often get spam calls, some from chapel hill and other parts of NC. Would the interviewer have left a message if I didn’t pick up? Is this just another spam call?
Yes, the interviewer should have either left you a voicemail or emailed you if they called and you didn’t pick up. That is what interviewers are instructed to do. There’s obviously no way for you to know who called if there was no message left.
Sounds like spam. I’m an alumni interviewer for Duke. I usually send an email. But sometimes I call if I can’t reach a student by email. In either case I always would leave a voice message.
Tsk tsk, sgopal2. We’re told to try to call first as it’s a more “personal touch.” (Don’t actually care, just kidding with you). I realize that the majority of people these days do prefer email for their communications although I still try to call first (and then email a day later if they haven’t called me back).
@bluedog yes you’re right. I had to go back through my training materials. It does clearly say that we should try to call the student first. But in my experience the phone numbers listed in AIMS are usually the home and/or cell phone numbers.
Judging from the experience with my own kids, teenagers nowadays are averse to using voicemail – too much of an antiquated relic. My own kids much prefer texting. Had a good laugh a few months back because my oldest son didn’t even know how to setup the voicemail system on his cell phone. Said he never had the need for it Shows you how times have changed.
