<p>Son finally submitted application on Dec 29 for Fall 2015. Thought he had submitted a few days earlier but was having technical issues. Any way, since it is enrolling admissions and kids have been applying since summer, are his chances greatly diminished? how many kids who apply this late still get spots? Still has to get his teacher letters in, and he asked his guidance counselor right before break to send transcript but not sure she got it out before break. So all the elements may not be in hand with admissions until early January unfortunately. I know they give until Jan 15 for merit aid. </p>
<p>Presuming that your son is an otherwise competitive candidate and is not applying for one of the limited-seat programs (pharmacy, nursing, etc.) I’d think he’s okay.</p>
<p>He is interested in majoring in physics. Has nice scores SAT math 750, CR 750, writing 710; superscore 2210. Act 31, only took once. Weighted gpa 93.5, not sure of unweighted, not great, not terrible, about a b-plus, 5 APS, multiply SUNY courses which are weighted, decent ECs, varsity track and cross country since 7th grade, senior year team captain, more than 200-plus hours volunteer at local hospital, plays sax for school marching band, wind orchestra, jazz band. </p>
Did he try out for marching band? Maybe that would be a hook. And physics sounds good.
And he ordered his scores to be sent, because that might take a week at least?
Yes scores have been sent. Not sure he will try out for marching band but will definitely want to get involved with something musical, but possibly less formal - he also plays guitar and incurrent my learning bass. Still interested in running tho his times may be just short of qualifying depending on what school he winds up at. Probably would not qualify for Pitts track and cross country teams but may look into running at club level.

Well, he was admitted today. We’ll have to see what kind of financial package but we’re gonna gphave some decisions to make.
