<p>BTW Cal has one of the nations largest College Republican clubs. I would choose Cal. It will be more than just school, as you put it you will be out on your own in a new place how exciting is that? That's awesome! You can always return to SoCal for breaks and also after 2 years when you are done up at Cal. Put it this way.. I don't think you can regret going to CAL, but I do see someone regretting going to UCLA...</p>

<p>Seriously, you can't go wrong with either school. Unless there's some compelling reason, such as living at home, taking care of sick parent, etc., it's really a toss-up. Both departments are excellent. If you're going to UCLA, which concentration are you choosing?</p>

<p>Nope, I didn't apply to Cal, I had a GTO (Guaranteed Transfer Option) to UCLA so I've been pretty set on UCLA since high school..</p>
<p>UCB has one of the most conservative political science departments in the country. (More so than Harvard or Yale--don't know about Princeton) Take it from me, a Cal poli sci major. AJ Gregor is a crazy anti-marxist, Dan Schnur is a former republican campaign strategist (and a great teacher from what I hear), and some other guy was a former Republican congressman and speechwriter for Reagan. The PEOPLE in Berkeley tend to be liberal, but not the universtiy itself. (THe atomic bomb was pratically invented here) Regardless, you'll get a great education either place you go--it just comes down to presonal preference. If you don't like smog, come here. If you have a penchant for fake tits, go to UCLA. Simple.</p>
