My HS gpa is terrible, but lets say that my college gpa is incredible. Would that be good or bad?Do they want huge improvement or consistency that is high? I would like to go to Georgetown.

Read the sticky thread: Transfer Admissions 101

If you are interested in transferring after your Fr year, then your HS gpa is very important.

If you have a good reason why your hs grades were bad then mention it. I worked a lot in HS and had a 2.03 unweighted, went to ASU got 3.4 now transferring to USC.

I kind of had a similar question. I had an excellent GPA in high school and plan to continue that in college. But do highly selective colleges value this type of consistency, or are they typically more impressed by students that struggled with their GPA in high school and then improved it significantly in college?

They would definitely not punish you for doing well in high school also, redsoxgirl. While they might be impressed by significant improvement from a bad HS record, I think they'd be more impressed by consistent excellence.

i'm sure both have their different strengths and just reflect a different kind of applicant. also, it doesn't do too much to worry about your past HS stats at this point as they can't be changed.
