Do California State Universities accept D's? I received a D in Algebra 2 my second semester of Junior Year, and a D in Spanish 4 my second semester of Junior Year.

Thanks!

To use the course to fulfill the subject requirements for CSU (and UC) admissions purposes, you need a C grade or better:
[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - High School Subject Requirements](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Freshman: Admission Requirements | CSU)

Note that in some cases, successfully completing a more advanced course may validate an earlier course that you received a D or F in:
[University of California - a-g Guide](http://www.ucop.edu/a-gGuide/ag/a-g/math_reqs.html)

So what does that mean? Will admission for CSUs be a no go because of those 2 D’s?

CSU requires 2 years of foreign language. Assuming you took Spanish 1, 2, and 3 previously, that should fulfill that requirement. Check to see if the requirement can be fulfilled by sufficiently high scores on the SAT Subject or AP test in the language.

CSU requires 3 years of math, which presumably means completing Algebra II with a C or better. If you repeat Algebra II and get a C or better, you can fulfill the requirement. Or if the reason for the D was something not normally reflective of your performance in the course (e.g. you got sick during the final exam), and you complete a more advanced math course with a C or better, that may fulfill the third year (and may validate the Algebra II course – check your counselor).

Of course, the other thing to consider is the effect on your GPA, since different CSUs have different eligibility index (based on GPA and test scores) requirements.

How can I find the eligibility index for each CSU? What if I had a really high ACT but a low GPA? Also, I am doing Trip/Pre Calc my senior year, would that be able to validate it?
