Do I have a chance at UCLA/UCB

Hey guys so I am a senior this year and I want to attend UCLA or UCB. I plan to major in chemistry and pursue pharmacy school. My stats are:

3.82 UW GPA (4 AP and 5 Honors)
Class rank: Top 10%
1410 SAT (780 math and 630 reading/writing)
7/6/6 Essay
770 SAT Math 2
760 SAT Chemistry
AP Chem - 5
AP/AB Calc - 5
AP USH - 3
AP Euro - 3

4 years of High School Basketball, 2 years Varsity
4 year club member
Helped start a culture club in senior year
Peer Tutoring
Class Cabinet - Senior Year
Volunteer City Basketball Coach (basically a recreational league)

If someone could help me that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Assuming your UCGPA is around 4.1, i think it’s a 50/50 proposition for both of those campuses.

You should certainly apply but, also apply to UCD, UCI, UCSB and UCSC - even UCR. I’d also apply to SDSU and CP SLO as outstanding safety schools.
good luck.

Not major specific but below are admit rates fir UC GPA capped weighted for all UC campuses. SAT scores are on target.

https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

Freshman admit rates (2016) for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19:

UCB: 14%
UCLA: 14%
UCSD: 44%
UCSB: 54%
UCD: 58%
UCI: 65%
UCSC: 85%
UCR: 94%
UCM: 96%

Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 4.20 or above (2016):

UCB: 42%
UCLA: 54%
UCSD: 87%
UCSB: 85%
UCD: 91%
UCI: 94%
UCR/UCM: 98%

@Gumbymom do all UCs cap? I saw somewhere (I don’t remember where) hat some UCs don’t cap.

UCLA/UCB look at capped weighted UC GPA, UW UC GPA and Fully weighted UC GPA. These 2 schools do show on their Freshman profile their Fully weighted UC GPA averages for admitted applicants. The rest of the UC’s may consider the Fully weighted UC GPA, but not stated on their websites nor do they post their Fully weighted admit ranges.

Though the headline # and published floor relate to the UCGPA, all the ucs look at your full transcript, to evaluate your course rigor ad overall performance. UCB and LA admit too using other GPA calculations - but all the campuses dig deeper than just your UC GPA. It matters less at other campuses because they don’t have the logjam of 4.2+ GPAs to weed through. That said, rest assured that a 4.3 UCGPA beats a ‘well rounded’ 4.0.
