Do i have a chance at university of alabama?

Hi, I’m a current senior at a top ranked school in Illinois. My ACT is a 26 and my weighted GPA is a 2.97. While I am well above the ACT requirement, I am .03 off of the GPA requirement. Will this be a dealbreaker or do you think I’ll be accepted??

Average means that includes scores of above and below. Thus, many scores were below 2.97. A difference of .03 won’t hurt you at all.

@Kramer1 do you think that gives me a good chance then?

@esjhss17 Yes I think you have a good chance if your ACT is well above average.

@esjhss17

If you apply soon, you’ll almost certainly be accepted. Bama is more lenient at the beginning of the app season. Get your app in.

With that GPA I doubt you would get merit scholarships. Based on your other posts you are OOS. Make sure your parents have away to pay OOS tuition.

@esjhss17 I just sent you a private message.

But for others reading this from OOS, this site might help if you live in a state within the Midwest Student Exchange Program: http://msep.mhec.org/ .

There are similar organisations outside of the Midwest: http://www.collegeview.com/articles/article/save-money-on-out-of-state-schools-with-tuition-reciprocity and further explained here: https://www.instateangels.com/tuition-reciprocity-agreements-explained/#South .

AL has its own neighboring state tuition program called the ACM Academic Common Market, through the SREB. http://home.sreb.org/acm/choosestate.aspx

Don’t pay full price for college!!! :smiley:

I agree with the above. If your family can afford it, then apply ASAP. But if they can’t then you need to rethink this plan . . .

Was at an admissions briefing last week and admissions said low GPA with higher test scores OR vice versa are still ok with high chance of admission. The greater question is OOS can you still pay for it without merit aid from the school?
