Hi, i am an instate senior applying to uf, but is unsure of which term to apply for. I hear rumors that summer b is easier to get in to, and that I may be taking a risk by applying for fall. Is this even true, because my ideal term would be fall. My stats...

Everything appears okay except your GPA may round down to 3.9 & your
SAT score is below average.
If I may suggest, you have at least one more shot at the SAT test this coming Saturday, November 5th. Just do a wait list, sign up, pay the penalty fee, show up and hopefully they can squeeze you in. The December test result may not make it on time. Good Luck

Thanks for your advice!!! What do you think a good score would be to aim for since I’m already registered for the upcoming November test?? And do how much weight to they put on rigor of curriculum because I feel as if that’s my strong point. And I recalculated my uf gpa to be a 3.97… Will this round up, because I hear acceptance chances go up drastically for 4.0s and up and for kids with more than 24 credit hrs. Thanx

Try and get around mid 1900s if you want a good chance of acceptance.

Sometimes you can do amazing on the SAT, you just have to be really alert and motivated on test day. Don’t stress but actually relax, because when you relax you will actually get more answers right because your brain is working under no pressure, and you can think easier. Also don’t overinterpret on the reading section, the answer is always indirectly(rephrasing of words) or directly supported by passage.

For math knock down all the easy problems quickly and error-free. Have a flexible mind when approaching the hard problems. Try to answer nearly all the math questions omitting no more than 4-6 total

I think they will overlook your low SAT when they read the above.

I think that you will be fine for summer (but if you do fall they may switch you to summer). UF does holistic admissions and other than the SAT you are a great candidate. Your class rigor, EC’s, and AP’s will make them happy and the fact that you are a URM from a military family…ICING on the cake!

I think that if you get your SATs up to the magic 1800 figure, that would be good.

By the way, my son raised his scores by 100 points with zero studying, so this certainly can be done, especially if you do some prep work.

I think your passing grades in your AP classes should be a big plus for you, because they tend to show that your gpa is “for real”, and not inflated.

My son just completed his application yesterday, just in the nick of time.

As a URM, you don’t have to be the best candidate in the group, just a good/plausible candidate. Your AP scores show that you can do college work, and that is what I think UF looks at when they are considering an application from a URM. They want qualified URMs, and your record shows that you are qualified—maybe not the most qualified, but qualified.

I wouldn’t worry too much about being slightly below 4.0.

So I hope you make it to that magic 1800 mark, because then you really will have no negatives.

I was asking if it is required to show the AP scores? They are on part of the transcript but some transcripts from same county dont even include AP scores… i mean do they require the AP scores on the transcript.

No, you don’t have to disclose your AP scores to UF until after admission. They aren’t used in admissions. UF does give out liberal credit for passing, unlike the private colleges (UF gives credit for a score of 3)!
