Do I have a chance? Low gpa...

GPA: 3.3 UW 3.7 W
Rank: ~15%
SAT: 690 CR 660 M 670 W
ACT: 31 (will be retaking both tests)

Other: Varsity tennis and French club for 4 years each. National Hispanic Scholar
Would be applying to CAS.

Your GPA is lower than average but you still have a chance depending on the program; just don’t expect a large amount of aid if any. About 1 in 5 NYU students had a 3.25-3.5 GPA in hs.

I won’t need aid… but what are my chances for CAS? Does admission depend on the intended major or school?

Chance is pretty low, even for CAS. They are going to be more selective this year. In any case raise your SAT and try to write some impressive essays otherwise I’d look at other schools as matches.

CAS is probably a reach for you, but you still have a chance.

I got into Gallatin with a 3.3 UW and a 33 ACT, if it makes you feel any better.

Eh I guess I’ll still apply. I figured it’d be a reach anyway haha

Don’t be too put down by your low GPA. I had the same problem last fall, but I still got into stern  My advice would be to work hard on your essays. Be creative. I’m pretty sure it’s what got me in to NYU. Good luck.
