Hi! I am currently an 11th grader in CA, and UT is my dream school. Im ranked number 2 in my class of 500. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA and scored a 1900 on my SAT when i took it a couple of weeks ago, but i plan on taking it again, and getting no less than a 2000. I took all AP/HP classes throughout high school, and am involved in several different I plan on applying Pre-Law. Im really worried about not being accepted because of Texas's Top 8% Law! Please let me know what you think!

Being 2nd is a big deal and your scores are good enough for top schools. Don’t worry about ut you’ll get in

All we can say is apply and see what happens. The auto admit rule is for Texas residents. Texas residents who are in the top 7% are automatically admitted to UT. That fills a good 75% of the slots, leaving not that many places for holistic admits from Texas and elsewhere.

Improve your SAT score and write good essays. Show why you would be a great asset to UT.

Apply for law and second major pick undecided just in case. It is the easiest to get into

i think you’ll be mostly fine in regards to the acceptance.
However, as an out-of-stater, how are you going to pay for the school?

^ i agree with the tuition i don’t think its worth the cost when berkley is cheap as hell to you.

plus you want to do pre-law which means you want to go to law school which on average will cost 100k+ , so i wouldn’t recommend paying the extra out of state tuition for UT when Berkley which is ranked higher is cheaper to you and you want to go to law school

@135pipe is it easier to be accepted by applying undecided?

Absolutely that’s why my second appeal was granted to undeclared

Indeed. OP has some of the best public schools in his state, and they’re all cheaper than UT Austin OOS by 17 grand per year or more.

your second appeal? Did you appeal twice?

@135pipe Your second appeal? Did you appeal twice?

Yes I did
