<p>My class rank very low for admission to this school, between 25-30%. However I have great test scores (2180 SAT with an 800 in math) and EC's, and an upward trend in GPA (My GPA is a 3.42, but in junior year was a 3.83). I was definitely a slacker freshman and the beginning of sophmore year for various reasons, but I tried hard to get good grades this year. I got a 4 and 5 on my 2 AP classes, and am taking 3 AP's next year. I'm really interested in CMU, but will that dreaded bad class rank make it an impossibility?</p>
<p>Which school are you planning to apply to? H&SS you most definitely have a shot of getting in.</p>
<p>Luckily for you CMU does not count freshmen year grades. Perhaps you have a higher GPA then you think? Write some great essays as CMU is holistic in admissions and you may have a chance for admission save for the most selective colleges (Comp Science and Tepper).</p>
<p>lol don't worry about freshman year. I'm a freshman CIT, and I tanked freshman year in HS too.</p>
