Do I have any chance of getting in with a 3.0?

UW GPA 3.03
SAT: 960 MATH&CR and Writing 480.
Bad ECs
Sports: Varsity Track 11th Grade, Plan on doing it and Weight lifting this year.
Community service hrs: None but I did help fundraise
Programs: I did run and win a medal but I highly doubt I can get proof of that from the school, two Pre engineering programs, and a community service program.
Classes: 4 honors and 3 College credit classes that aren't AP, My grades are in an upward trend.
Essay: In revision
I came from a crappy school in NYC and moved to a better school in CT for my final two years of HS.

Major in: Aerospace Engineering
Minor in:Computer Science

When you went to the school in CT, did your grades significantly get better?

And what specifically are your Math and CTR scores for SAT?

I think that you might have a chance, it depends on what you write in your essay. Being optional, it’s really a good chance to talk about your characteristics, either indirectly through an allegory, or directly through personal experiences.

Also, if you can, I would try to schedule a visit, just because when you’re here you have an opportunity to place a face to your name, so that perhaps when they see your application in the system and they review you, they can remember seeing you and your personality.

Also, in terms of your math level, are you at least taking (or have taken) Pre-Calculous, and for science, Physics?

Yeah I’m taking both.

510 CR and 450M

Well they did increased by alot due to the fact that my old school had no APs or honors and failed to meet some educational thing required in NYC.

with a math score that low you might wanna reconsider your major…just a word to the wise.

Its Engineering or something Medical.

I would agree with chadster. Engineering as a whole is possibly the most demanding fields that you could go into. If your HS GPA is hovering around 3.0, do you think you can handle intense math/physics that goes down in aeronatical engg?

My GPA is a result of not taking school seriously not because I could not handle the work. I could do what most of the top 10% in my school is/was doing and take those easy CCP classes and fill the rest of my schedule with lol intro to socology and tech classes.

You make it sound like you’re really smart and all, but then why is your SAT score so low? I’m not trying to shoot you down, but stay realistic and don’t kid yourself. SERIOUSLY reconsider whether you can handle engineering. You probably have strengths in areas that you havent looked at yet, so I’d look into that. That’s all I’m gonna say.

I don’t see anywhere else I can fit.

Got accepted to Embry.

To go into more details about my last comment. I don’t see anywhere else I can enjoy working in, My family is full of mechanics and medical workers(nurses) but A mechanic is fun and all but in the end of the day that fun won’t be helping me or my family much( I know that for a fact). I’d love to be a nurse but some of the stuff they learn is boring and my people skills are bad when it comes to rude&hostile people. Which is what I’ll be encountering, since sick people aren’t always nices old ladies.
