How Good are My chances?

My school keeps telling me to apply and that its a good school but when I look at its engineering rank on USNEW it ranks low.

I have a UW GPA: 3.03
BAD ECs
Didn't do much until my Junior yr
Have 4 Honors classes
Taking 3 Housatonic College credit classes.

If needed I could go into more detail.

what are your SATs

Need ^ that information as well your grades in the cc classes.

SAT 960 M&CR first time
Second time I don’t know yet, I hope its an 1230 or 1300
Third hasn’t been taken yet

CCP Medical Careers B+ I missed 1 assignment
CCP Precalculus B bad Test but an A is ceratin this time
CCP Composition D sadly my essay sucked and my Portfolio was lacking. I’m doing better I think.

I would say you have a small chance. You need something to counterbalance that GPA, so you will need a very high SAT score. Much higher than what you have.

15% chance maybe? If its that I might not even bother applying but If I get all As in my other classes I should get a 3.6 by the end of my Senior doesn’t that count?

I’m not comfortable giving a percent chance, and there is no way to measure that.

I also don’t see how you can attain a cumulative GPA of 3.6 even if you earned all A’s, but I would have to run the numbers. Your hope would be to do incredibly well on a SAT retake.

Well thats W I did it using my school websites calculator but that could easily be wrong.

You may very well be able to; I no idea. Regardless, I strongly recommend studying a LOT for the SATs and retaking them.

So is 1230 good enough? I’m reaching for a 1370 on my third time.

Again, I can’t give you a number simply because that’s impossible. Just get the highest score you can.

So what if I go in for Nursing instead of Engineering does it make a difference? I can increase my SAT but if my GPA still overshadows it I’m just gonna take the chance and apply anyways.

Those are drastically different fields, and Nursing looks for very specific course and EC criteria. They are also different schools.

If you want to study Engineering, apply to that program. If you want to be a Nurse, apply to that.

Either way, retake your SAT and do well in class.

The SAT is what scares me because doing well in class is easy my teacher even said if I keep this up I’ll have all A’s this MK Period.

I can try and get in 3hrs of Service a day and sacrifice those precious weekends but I doubt that’ll make a difference.

If I do that and take that HCC Spanish class I can say I’m good as requirements go.

Feb is the deadline and I planned on getting my application in by the 5th of this month.

What else can I do to get my chances up higher? I can’t win States in a month and I can’t just instantly become some community leader.

Don’t worry about community service at this point. Concentrate on grades and SAT score.

Well I can fill out the app now and send in my SAT scores at a later date?

What if I take subject test?

If I were you, I would not worry about subject tests. Concentrate on the SAT, which you can send in after you application. Your application will not, however, be considered compete until scores are submitted.

thanks philosopher I applied but my nov sats were sadly a 1120 for Math and CR.

Would they still accept me into the other UCONNs if I fail to make it to the main one?

Hartford is my alternative.

How long would it take for them to transfer me into the main campus?

If you are rejected for Storrs, and you indicated in your application that you would like to be considered for a branch, then they will do so.

You may transfer to the Storrs campus from a branch campus at any time after one semester.
