Do I have any chance of transferring to UCLA

I’m a CS major in my second semester of CC and I really wanted in UCLA, but I didn’t do so hot my first semester, (2.9 GPA and got a C in English 1A) I feel like that blew any chance I had, but if I retake that course and get into the TAP program,
( https://www.mtsac.edu/honors/partners.html )

Which gives me a higher chance, do I have a realistic chance of getting in still? Or is it too late and should I just go for something cheaper and easier.

I still need to take my math, physics, and CS courses, which I will get As in. I really want to get in and am trying way harder this semester.

the 25-75th percentile range for UCLA CS is 3.88-4.0 with a 5% admit rate.

Come back when you have everything complete for an accurate “chance” but it will be a tough admit. Make sure you have other UCs or CSUs on your application list as well.

Cannot retake C grade. It’s only your first semester. People get in after a bad start. Just nail the rest of the classes.

Worth an ap but, probably not.

You should probably target some of the less selective CSUs as a fall back plan.

good luck

if you plan on applying as a CS major at ucla then participation in TAP gives you no advantage.
