Do I have to take the AP tests that I said I would Plan to take on my college apps?

Since I put on my college apps that I PLAN to take Physics 1,2, C Mechanism, & C E.M., would I be required to take those exams?? I am thinking about just taking Physics C Mechanism ONLY because:

  1. Physics 1 and 2 don’t waiver any classes and I would be taking physics again in college so I dont see the point in spending 188 dollars to take them.
  2. I dont think Im taking Physics C E.M. since I honestly dont think I can pass it lol.

I am taking physics right now at school and I am applying as an engineering major. I think I have gotten UC Santa Barbara so far and some Cal States if that helps with answering.

No one here can say with the certainty that the schools you’re accepted to can say.

Personally, I doubt that would be a reason to withdraw an offer of admission, but the only way to know for sure is to ask each college that accepts you.

Good luck to you!

You need to notify each of your schools about the change in your plans. I doubt it will make a difference in admissions results.

Your first mistake was listing on your application that you were planning to take all 4 physics exams. That is just a waste of money, as few colleges will give credit for all 4.

While I have heard UCs say that they expect applicants to take all tests as listed, I have never heard of an instance where an acceptance was rescinded as a result. Personally, unless you think there is no way you would get a 3 on E&M, I’d still take it. But I would forgo the 1&2 exams totally.
