Do I have to take TOEFL if I take SAT?

I’m an international student. I want to apply to universities of California. I’m not sure if I still have to take language exam if I take SAT? Does anyone know something about it?

It depends on the college. For the University of California, yes you still have to submit TOEFL unless English was the language of instruction in your high school.

Most schools require both the TOEFL and the SAT. Depending on the school, they will waive the requirement for you, but only for certain circumstances (native English speaker, high CR SAT score, etc.).

Some schools waive TOEFL requirement if one completed the English medium high school.

I’m glad my school didn’t require me to take it, though English is almost my second language.

Check each college’s website. The international applicant instructions page should have the details of their TOEFL requirements. If you meet the criteria for exemption, send them an e-mail. All my colleges waived the TOEFL requirement without any issues.

The only valid information is that provided on EACH university’s website. What is valid for one may not be valid for another one, so, don’t assume and check for each university.
