Do I need to improve 790 Chemistry for yale

BTW weak ECs

no

You can't be serious.

Strong scores won't compensate for weak ECs, however.

Meh, go for it. An 800 outweighs the risk of getting a lower score, right?

dude, 790? What the hell? that just sucks! Retake man. You'll be total failure otherwise.

getting a perfect score won't get you in if you have weak ecs. Don't buy into the collegeboard hype. Don't let them have any more of your money than is absolutely necessary.

You're kidding, right? Don't you dare.

take it again, but cheat this time, so the money you will be giving to collegeboard will be equal to the honor you are stealing from them

In all seriousness, a 790 is no different than an 800 as far as Yale is concerned. They put scores in blocks.

Yeah, instead of worrying about a 790, which is downright horrible, why don't you focus your attention on some extracurricular activities instead? Nobody likes an absolute bookworm.

I got in with a 680. No, you don't need to retake.

I seriously wouldn't worry about it. Concentrate on building your "weak" EC's rather than studying for a mere 10 points. That would help way more in the long run.

i got a 790... i thought that was a good score. is that not good enough for yale?

oh dear lord. YES a 790 is a good score!!! I got a 740 on chem and I was ecstatic. Please don't freak out about test scores. They're not anywhere near as important as the collegeboard would like you to think. As long as you're in the range of a school, test scores don't set you apart. If you need evidence, look through the EA decisions thread and look at the scores of people who were accepted vs. people who were deferred. Don't see a really clear trend? That's because as I think AdmissionsAddict has said before, high grades and test scores qualify you to apply. It's the extracurriculars and essays and special talents that will get you in.

This thread needs to go with the 3.9 vs. 4.0 GPA honest opinion thread...OP, check it out...I think that your 790 vs. 800 correleates with it

dude don't worry about it. use whatever time you were planning on to get that 10 points to have fun and relax (or sleep.)

yale frowns upon 790s, which are seen as symbols of imperfection.

Thanks Every one for advice I think ECs should be the focus now

leave the 790 alone. go be president of something. fin.

If you don't think that score is reflective of your true ability, go ahead and take it again. Just don't expect it to help you get in.

For Caltech, however, it may be a different story.

And your chances won't be wrecked by retaking a 790, as some people claim around the forum (not in this particular topic).

ECs are more helpful than 10 points on the test, so make sure you get those in.
