Hello everyone, I’m new to this site so please forgive me if this question has been asked before. I’m looking forward to be a part of this community and to contribute what I can in the future.

My first question is that do UCs’ admission decisions take into account how long it takes/ how many classes I take per semester? The reason I asked is because I’ve slowed down my progress in school considerably since the first semester, after two years in CC I’ve only accumulated 24 UC credits. I skipped a few winter/ spring/ summer semesters. Will the admission office consider me less because my progress has been slow?

My other question is that will I still be able to sign up the TAG program after earning 30 UC credits?

No they do not, but don’t take years off of school because some classes can become outdated. I have classes from 08 that still transfer. TAG applications are from September 1-30 every year. It’s too late this year, so apply next year.

Nah they don’t care. Not everyone transfers in 2 years. Not uncommon to see students transfer after even 3 or 4 years. People change majors, have personal issues, work 2 jobs and go to school, or prefer to learn at a slower pace.

They do not care. Trust me! I am an older transfer student…59 years old! I am attending UC Davis this fall as a transfer. I did do a TAG application but I think I would have gotten in anyway. I started cc in 1973, yes 1973, before you were born. There were times when took 10 years off to have children, get married, run a business. It doesn’t matter. Your transfer counselor at your cc should be able to see which classes you took were transferrable. A sociology class I took in 1974 counted towards a requirement! The two years before I transferred I was pretty much full time with a very good GPA. But the fact that I had attended cc on and off for over 30 years was not a factor. On the application you have room to explain any breaks in your studies. Mine were: marriage, financial situation, employment commitments, having children, etc. You have a life and life gets in the way sometimes. It does not matter as long as you finish all requirements and have a good PA. You can apply for a TAG next September as long as you will have 30 units completed. Good luck!
