Does a 3 on an AP Exam Look Bad? (Freshman Year)

(Another thread with the same message, but different question)
I was forced into an AP Class by my father lol in 9th. I didn't have a good teacher for AP Human Geo, first year ever teaching and we had about one A a quarter except for the last one. She was a tough teacher, much tougher than the other AP Human Teacher. I took the exam last year, I got a 3, was ok... with the score. I was bored one day, and nothing to do and I thought to see if I'd remember anything from last year out of complete boredom?

I see the MC Released Exam and look over the questions and answer them real quick, and I missed barely ANY! LOL. Definitely enough for a 5. I couldn't believe it, I did better now without looking at the subject for a year, and did worse last year.

Luckily I did ok last year.. but I could of done BETTER! It shows most 9th graders new to high school aren't ready for AP yet. For some reason our minds aren't ready lol. For instance I saw a bunch of questions on the exam from things I learned in my World History H Class at school on it. So basically if I took it this year instead of last year I could of done much better, plus I would of gotten the better teacher since my teacher stopped teaching it after one year. Should I retake it? Does a 3 look bad?
Just to add here's a bit of advise: Freshman: Wait at least until your in 10th, then you'll be ready. If you take AP Human Geo, it can be an extremely easy course if you wait until 10th when you start learning more history.

Now I feel like taking the exam again :P

Where are you applying?

3 Ivies (Penn, Brown, Cornell), schools like Northwestern W, John Hopkins, Emory, University of Chicago, Universiy of Florida (I know they accept a 3). Btw this was for AP Human Geo.

No. This will neither cause an acceptance nor rejection in any of those schools. Will it have an impact for them? Probably. But do not worry about it, there is a lot more important things in your applications for uber elite privates than just ONE AP score in the 9th Grade, and that’s a passing score to begin with.

Anecdotal evidence shouldn’t be taken as Gospel, but I have 4 friends accepted to Harvard this year, and they all had at least one 3 or lower on one of their exams.

BTW, this won’t matter at all for UF. They do not care.

Lol just because it’s AP Human… makes me want to retake it b/c I know I could get a 5 easy after seeing what I got vs last year on a released exam./practice exam.
Also if schools like UPENN or any of the other schools that don’t accept AP Human, will it have an impact on them at all? Or no matter what will have an impact like you said? Also UF doesn’t care?

You know you can retake AP Tests, right?

You should probably retake it next year since Human geo is one of the easiest AP’s.

A 3 will not ruin your chances, please. If you’re really bothered by it, then audit/“hide”/don’t report the score. I understand you, though. I feel the same if I don’t get 5s, unless it’s AP Chem.

Retaking it will only be a waste of your time. Just do better on the upcoming exams.

It’s 10 Dollars to score withhold if it is weighing on you that much…
