Ok so our English teacher gave our WHOLE block class a detention for being inside a class room unsupervised. We tried to explain that the teacher for the previous block was with us, but then he left. 30 seconds later, our English teacher comes in and yells at all of us. This is my first time getting a detention in high school. Will this affect my college chances?

Not at all. Detention doesn’t go on your personal record, only suspension and expulsion. Colleges have no way of seeing that you got a detention.

I’m almost positive that schools don’t take detentions into account whatsoever. They care about honor code violations, suspensions, expulsions, etc. But I don’t think they care about detentions at all.

^exactly. but I would also just like to stress that schools CANNOT see that you got a detention even if they would care.

so I’m guessing having no history of detentions doesn’t help you? sucks for me. i should’ve been more of a rebel

^ Lol, no then teachers probably would have hated you and not written good recommendations.

man i get detention at least once a week.

no, but i do hope you learned a lesson from it. you should never be in a classroom unsupervised since its disrespectful

don’t worry about it EvanO5 you’ll be fine…

^^how is it disrespectful?? My teachers let us stay in their classrooms all the time when they’re not there. Like today, my history teacher let my friend and I hang out in her room while she went to Starbucks to get coffee.

25 detentions… Senior year
