The vision 2005 thing is for minorities, "ethnically diverse" people, and doesn't include asian people, or so I've heard. Coqui was saying that people all over the US got invited, meaning that vision 2005 isn't only limited to Texan minorities.

icymoon
you are now officially my translator. thanks for clearing that up for me. you're right, i meant that MINORITIES (blacks, hispanics, native am) are being invited from all over the country, not just texas.

wannabeariceowlgirl
dont worry. i dont think they cosider asians a minority in this case. so its not a bad sign.

OK, I received an invitation to Vision 2005. I tried a few times to fill out the online reservation but I always got error messages. Then, I lost the invitation. So I don't have the information to register. I suppose I will call them on Monday. Until then, though, does someone have the link to register. I have my rice ID because miracle of miracles I found the envelope. Thanks for the help!

Thank you so much coqui for your help, but are you sure about the link? I followed the link and all it said was error occurred while processing request. No page came up displaying any fields of any sort. Is that exactly what it says on the card? I used mozilla firefoz, and then internet explorer. both times it gave me that message. grrr. i'm so frustrated with this. please help again!

I was invited as well. I had problems registering and just called the number on the invitation, the lady was very helpful and registered me online. So if anyone else has a problem don't hesistate in calling her.

I got invited too! and I applied interim.>I was wondering the same question (if it meant I was accepted) so I called..and the lady wouldn't really give me many details other than to say it was kind of like Owl Weekend and she told me to take it as a good sign. still nothing in the mail tho, and I live in Houston.

When the student called me about it, she said that she couldn't tell me anything official about my admissions decision, but that I should feel happy and optimistic about it. I felt like it was kind of like a hint, hint, nudge nudge...I at least feel confident that I'm not going to be rejected this time around.

AWWW....i want to go to vision 2005... Anywho, I would LOVE to go...should I call and ask if I can come or something lol...
P.S. I am asian and if i called that would mean that i really REALLY want to go to rice..hmm...:) sounds like a good idea?

Hey guys, this is my first post.
I was looking up info regarding the Vision 2005 and I found this forum. It answered some of my questions and raised some others.

I read in one of the post that only ID were invited, however I am not ID (I am RD) and yet I received an invitation. What does this mean? Does it mean I got in? I got rejected and they are playing with my mind?

Are merit scholarships only for people who apllied ID?

Thanks guys for your replies.

BTW wannabeariceowlgirl what is your name? b/c I went to Alief Taylor last year and I am at another school now (just wanna know who is so passionate about Rice)

Welcome to CC! ID and RD students get invites to vision weekend. It is equivalent to a likely letter. Merit aid is given to students from all decision plans.
