NOT Invited to Rice Vision Week

I've been stalking the Rice page for quite a while, and I've noticed that a lot of people were invited to Rice Vision week. Unfortunately, I was not; in fact I've barely heard from Rice besides the typical e-mails sent after the application submission/financial aid. Should I be concerned? I consider myself to have pretty good stats and such for Rice and I really liked my application, but I'm starting to get really nervous. Do most admitted students get invited to Vision Week?

Are you an under-represented minority?

I’m pretty much in the same boat as you. But I doubt we should be worried. From what I’ve heard of the Vision Week, only a very few people were selected to go and only those that could actually afford it went.

Vision 2012 was for mostly URMs.

That’s good to hear! Asian is definitely not a URM at Rice…or anywhere else.

Yes, Vision is for minorities, so accepted or not, you had no chance of being invited. :)

Yep, Vision is a program almost exclusively for Hispanic and African-American applicants. A few others (mostly the people they really want to entice) are invited, but if you weren’t invited you don’t have to worry at all. Most people at Rice weren’t invited–I was one of them. haha

Awesome! Thanks for the info FallenAngel!
