I used to obsessed with video games, esp NCAA Football. I stopped out of nowhere when i started my jUnior year. I dont really know why (I still play a little, but not nearly as much) but I think its because I began to focus on school more

only star wars battlefront II online on PC, been wasting my summer playing this game even though its a 6 year old game, hehe. Guess it’s time to focus on school now, though.

I game way more than I should, especially on weekends/vacations. :P

@2plus2equals5 Do you play online? If so, what version? 1.0 or 1.1? If you play on 1.1 you probably know me…hehe…

I used to be a hardcore Halo gamer back in middle school but I quit because I saw schoolwork as the more important thing. Gamers can only be sponsored and play for so long in the top 10 or 100 before they get too old. I don’t mean that in a bad way, but as we age past 25 or so, our reaction times slow down and we’re not able to keep up with younger generations. Then, if you have any self-respect at all, you have to survive without crawling into your parents’ basement, and that means taking up a job that you can do without all of the high level credentials of a person who didn’t spend their youth playing videogames and studied for higher education. Point is, videogames are entertaining and you can probably find me playing pok

I believe I had 24 days on mw2. Hahahah 9th presitge/lvl70

I’m a 4 K/D player on Black Ops (tryhard secondary account), an avid quickscoper in COD MW2/BO, 26 days played MW2, 10-something on Black Ops, I played Gamebattles for about a half a year on and off. I have a 50 in Team Slayer/Team SWAT, a 48 MLG, a 46 Team Snipers, and a 46 Team Doubles in Halo 3. 11k+ gamerscore. I’ve played xbox for ~4-6+ hours a day for the past two and a half years. Before that, I played runescape for 6-8 hours a day for all 3 years of Middle School. I have a level 56 pure with air guitar, 99 agility, 99 cooking, 99 fletching, a 1523 total level, and a 40m bank. Main is over 100. Uhh, 10 days played Battlefield Bad Company 2, level 40 in gears 2 just by playing horde splitscreen with friends. I play Crysis/CS:S/Starcraft [1/2] on the computer every now and then, but just for fun (I suck on PC). So yeah, that’s 11,000+ hours on video games over the past 5 years. I think that qualifies as an immense amount of wasted time…kudos to anyone who actually knows what I’m talking about!

About two weeks ago xbox/video games in general just lost all appeal to me, haven’t played since then. Once black ops came out I stopped playing so much, but now I’ve basically stopped. Life is so much better without wasting so much time every day getting angry over video games…I feel like an addict who has broken his addiction :)

I just uninstalled Black Ops yesterday, played over 200 hours I feel a bit better :)

Long story short, yes.

I put more time into video games than any other hobby freshman and sophomore year (shh… don’t tell colleges… and if a college rep is on here, I was just kidding). And then I stopped. I don’t know why. They stopped appealing to me in the same way that they did. I still feel like playing video games can be as engaging a hobby as reading a book, watching a movie, or listening to music, but I’m just not engaged by video games like I was back in the day.

What fueled my little obsession was, in part, the online community of gamers and such. I think I enjoyed that more than the actual games, truth be told. I also credit a few websites that allowed for user submitted reviews (as in, it was competitive to get selected) as the places where I really started to care about writing.

I wish I wasn’t quite as consumed by video games as I was, but I wouldn’t call it wasted time, either.

@Samonuh I play version 1.1… but I’ve never seen a Samonuh. Unless that’s not your name in BF2. Are you in a clan?

Yes, all the time. I use them to wind down from school and rowing and honestly I enjoy them quite a bit. It’s very possible to play video games and still be a proactive, productive person.

I actually quit cold turkey after realizing how much I needed to study in order to get into college. I haven’t looked back since. Now, Facebook on the other hand. :)

you can play video games and still feel good about yourself, yep.

how sad do people think video games are. well I don’t think it’s the video games that are sad, but something else. They are a face of the sad thing.

I guess capitalism becomes more dangerous to people when you don’t even have to spend all your money on useless things to waste your time anymore (time spent earning the money) - instead you can spend a small amount on an item that will occupy you forever.

basically products that damage the consumer more than they benefit the company are probably bad for society. If it were just a transaction of money there would be nothing to worry about besides corruption, but it’s not just a transaction of money; these products also tend to cost the consumer productivity.

I love playing video games. In fact, I think I spend a little too much time on it, which is sad frankly. I waste so much time on the internet, my wii, and playing games on my iPad. While most people use the PC, I do my homework on the iPad. Pretty cool, isn’t it.
