It seems like everyone on this site just 'writes' and 'draws' and does other productive stuff in their free time. Do people here actually play a lot of video games? And, who else wastes time on the internet a lot?

I stopped playing video games about a year ago, and I don’t miss them. I just came to grips with the fact that time spent gaming isn’t productive.

That said, there are plenty of other ways to waste time, both online and offline. This site (sometimes) comes to mind as a prime example.

I for one stopped gaming once I realized that I was been manipulated to but their next product. And I for one hate to get manipulated, so I stopped, and now I start studying for the SSATs lol. Seriously.

I admit to being an avid video gamer :P. I only play when I know I have some free time though, like on the weekends or after school when I don’t have homework. If I have an interesting book on hand though, I usually try and read that.

Does anyone know any tips to stop playing? I mean, I play a lot especially on the PC, I wanna quit for school because I’m going to be a junior

I was a hardcore PC Gamer in like leagues and stuff but quit second semester of freshman year because I couldn’t keep up… it was like 2 hrs of practice per day, and since it doesn’t count as a legit EC, i quit.

I’ve wasted many hours playing Counter Strike: Source, insofar as "wasted’ can be defined with the sensible exclusion of developing skill at Counter Strike: Source.

I only own a Wii. Last game I bought was Super Mario Galaxy 2… a year ago.

I’ve pretty much stopped.

Look at my username!

Steam worth calculator:

I used to before I considered them a waste of time. Now I waste my time in ways that I don’t consider a waste of time, but which still are, of course, wastes of time deep down in places that I can thankfully avoid venturing.

If you really consider video games a waste of time then I would say you’re on your way to 1) reducing how much you play them or 2) inner turmoil.

Last game I played full-through was Red Dead Redemption. I haven’t touched a controller in a year. I’m not planning on doing it in college at all.

Absolutely. I had serious troubles with video games and probably put more time into Call of Duty than homework. Before COD there were other video games as well. I waste a lot of time on the internet as well. It’s something that I think you can get away with during high school but definitely to be eradicated before the start of college.

No, I waste immense amounts of time on the computer.

If you wanna quit gaming, try this. Go for sports or things like that, or get a job. You will forget about gaming in no time. :)

Voluntary response bias…people with more intellectual hobbies are more likely to state them :P

As for me, I used to be really into computer games until I realized I didn’t have the patience for them. I can find patience for other things sometimes, but computer games don’t even yield a finished product.

When I have random breaks I sometimes play them. For instance over the winter break I was playing donkey kong 64. I only have a 64 and a gamecube lol :c

ohh has anyone played pandemic 2??? i was so close on that game…stupid madagascar :(

I usually play weekend mornings for like an two hours each day during the school year. On snow days I could waste a lot of time gaming. During the summer I spend probably an hour or two gaming in the morning or late night even though I play sports and have a job. I am not obsessed though. I have gone spans of time not playing so that I have time for other stuff. Most of my friends don’t do hw or study so they are generally on xbox live.

The only game I’ve recently played is Super Smash Bros.

N64 ftw!

I know I play a ton…
