Does middle school algebra transfer to HS transcript?

Hey guys!

I’m a junior right now, and in 7th/8th grade I took Algebra 1 and Geometry as part of the advanced math track (and got A’s). Since these were technically “high school” courses, do these classes (especially Geometry, which is actually offered at my high school) transfer to my high school transcript and/or affect my high school GPA?

Any help/experience is welcome, thank you!

Yeah they do. I took Algebra I in 8th grade and it shows on my transcript.

So it counts toward gpa right?

It varies by district. Check your district’s policy. At ours, it does not count for high school credit (HS students must still have at least 3 math credits in grades 9-12) but the student doesn’t have to re-take in HS the math classes she took in MS. The MS (grades 6-8) classes are not counted in HS GPA.

For my high school, my algebra and geometry grades from middle school showed up on my transcript but do not count towards my GPA or high school credits.

Mine did, not sure about others. Health also transferred to my High School Transcript (I also took that during 8th grade). It varies by school though, check with your guidance counselor. It satisfied my minimum math requirement to graduate (Alg I, Alg, II, and Geometry) however, most people normally take 4 to 5 math courses. I would just ask someone to make sure since all schools are different.

Thanks everyone! It sounds like they do transfer to your transcript, but not always GPA…I’ll check with my counselor and post the answer here if anyone else has the same issue

Where we live only 8th grade transfer and those grades for high school classes are part of the overall GPA but not part of GPA for Hope scholarship. Colleges back it out of GPA calculation. It all depends on where you live.

It was on my son’s transcript but not part of his GPA. Check with your counselor, every school is different.

At my school we fill out a form if we want them to show up on the transcript.

Counts for me. Honors Geometry in 8th grade I think, not sure about HA1 in 7th. In 8th grade, my HG class got the 4.5 GPA (averaged to 4.0758 -_-) because we were taking a high school class, so I’d assume we get the credit if we pass. Algebra 1 might because there are 9th graders who take it, but I’m not positive. I know language and geometry count at my district. (we had to take a language in 8th grade instead of 2 blocks/periods of english)

For me, they don’t count on our transcript/in our GPA. Neither Honors Geometry (a ninth-grade course that I took in eighth grade) nor Honors Algebra 1 (which was normally an eighth-grade course at my middle school, but I took it in seventh) is shown on our transcript. When we enter freshmen year in Algebra II/Trig, it’s assumed we completed all prerequisite courses.

My HS didn’t include middle school grades as part of my HS transcript/GPA, not even algebra/geo.
