Does my PSAT score qualify me as a National Merit Semifinalist?

I procured my score today from my counselor: 1470 (ebrw: 730 and math:740)

I think my cutoff is 220 and I reside in Indiana.

I mean probably? I know a girl who got the same score (in a different state though) and got it

You can calculate by taking the the 0 off of the individual scores. The EBRW is multiplied by 2. 73x2=146+74= 220 selection index. So your only issue is that they will not announce the NMSF until September and the selection index can stay the same, go up, or down. But if the selection index stays at 220 or goes down in Indiana, you will be a National Merit Semifinalist. Good luck…

Thx. Well the cutoff last year in Indiana was 219 so I guess I shouldn’t be worried

That is great… Congratulations @amycee

Thank you!

The question isn’t if you can meet the cutoff (probably will).

The question is, how did your counselor get the scores so early?

And why would he risk getting in trouble by releasing them to a student so early?

Indiana is scheduled to get PSAT scores Dec 12.

Hmm…

@mmk2015 Scores were released by the College Board to counselors today.

@mmk2015 check your Naviance account if you have one… some schools have started posting the scores there already today.

I don’t understand the logic of releasing the scores to the school before posting to the kids account. In our district you are paying for the test.

@Nicki20, in past years the scores were never released directly to the kids, so they were at the mercy of the school as to when they would get their scores. Be happy that they are being directly released to students. In years past, some kids had to wait until January before the schools would release scores.
