Does race affect your success as a lawyer

This may seem like a very stupid and offensive question, but I've HEARD that Asian American Lawyers don't have as much of a voice in law in America. is this true? BTW I"m asking because I'm an Asian American

It’s inevitable i think unless you present yourself extraordinarily, have lived in the States all your life and have exclusive cultural values of mainstream American society. Even in colleges, Asians usually hang out amongst themselves, and so on. And in internship fairs, whenever there is an Asian recruiter/professional at the event, most, if not all, Asians flock to the specific professional. Even as a US Citizen, when I get internship interview, I often hear a recruiter saying “we have a subdivision specializing in dealing with Asian business clients”. I would not be surprised to hear that clients from American corporations would pick a Caucasian lawyer of equal achievements (or even lower depending on the circumstance) over an Asian lawyer or of any ethnic background for that matter.

Nogueira, does your username come from teh fighters Rogdrigo and Rogerio or is that really your last name lol.

Anyway yeah that’s kind of what I was thinking as well, Asians identify with other Asians.

I think overall noreiga is right

Asian people basically do not like to associate with non asians, and while I believe this is a form of racism from asians(what else do you call it when people only prefer to hang around their own race), i will not get into the politics of that here. Point is Asians don’t like dealing with non asians, and as long as white or mexicans or african americans are the majority cscsdthen then asians will find it difficult to do business that is dependent on relation ships. iT IS the same reason why there are no asian ceos in non asian companies

That’s funny, I’m Asian and I’m actually rather uncomfortable around other Asians and prefer to hang out with non-Asian people.

When I see Asians hang out in big groups together at my school it’s usually because they are international students and speak the same native language.

@schrizto, there are some asians who are not racist and actually more open minded, perhaps the ones who grew up in the west or who are from hong kong and more civilized. More program is majority asians because you needed a 92% out 100% average to get in the program.
While it would be nice to pretend that asians who only hang around other asians do so for reasons of language or are all international students, I know thats not true. There are plenty of international students (students not born in the west) in my program. Sure Indians largely hang out with other indians but they do not always exclude people because they are not asians. Most of these asians also speak perfect english as they have done high school in the west and speak english and most of them have to do a 4 year degree in english. It is just a crock out to cover up their racism. If white people said o we only like to hang around other white people because they speak the same language and have the same culture, everyone would know thats racist. why do asians get special treatment?
