Does Rutgers Pharm have "spots" or a quota from each school?

I was under the impression that since Rutgers was "more selective" (as opposed to "most"), and accepted the majority of its applicants (56%), it wouldn't have the same kind of competition as seen in some of the private universities.

I applied to Pharmacy as a third choice because I wanted to keep my options open if I somehow didn't want to do engineering in six months. People at school are telling me that I screwed them over because Rutgers Pharm is particularly competitive and does practice a "quota", meaning they only take a certain number from each school.

Now, my initial thoughts were that Rutgers accepts anyone qualified, and doesn't reject one applicant because there "wasn't enough room" - that concept exclusive to the hyper-selective USNews rank 20+ privates.

Thoughts?

Rutgers Pharm only has 220 undergrad spots per year. To transfer in is almost possible, as in they don’t accept many transfers. (You need a 3.8, etc.). The overall institution of Rutgers is fairly easy to get into, but the Pharmacy school has around a 6% acceptance rate I think?

I’m pretty sure Rutgers pharm doesn’t have quotas for each school like the super selective USNews schools. they do only have a certain number of spots and take a very low percentage of applicants, but they don’t reject people from a school because they already took a certain number from that school.

i think the people form your school are just afraid that they won’t get in and are looking to blame someone, tbh. Rutgers pharm is very exclusive and, in the context of the nation’s pharm schools, is highly ranked. i too applied to it as a 3rd choice, though in my case it was more on a whim, and after i researched it post-acceptance, i was extremely impressed.
