Does this mean im accepted?

who knows LDHC, some people with 1600s got the email, some ppl with 2000+ didn't, etc...so it's strange to say the least...I wonder when LA will come out too...

Look, my email was received at 4:47PM. They probably got to sending about a quarter of the e-mails, quitting time was at 5, so they went home before they could finish sending out the last 3,000 emails. I'm sure they will get to it before tomorrow is over.

From what I remember, you were an anomaly for UCLA Regents in terms of stats. I don't mean to demean your accomplishments, but UCSD may have well believed that you would be an average or slightly above average admit to UCLA. UCLA may very well have appreciated more about you than did UCSD, which perhaps underestimated you. I agree, you are pushing against the validity of the theory, but I don't see it being disproved yet.

Until I find someone who got Regents letters to UCLA and Berkeley and a Scholars' Day invitation, and the UCSD letter I'm still going with flong's basic idea.

On a note about the sending of the emails: I know that, yes, sometimes emails are sent in waves, but most of the time, a script is used to take a list of addresses and mass-send messages to all of them at once. The only wave that I've seen are Irvine's acceptances since only random people seem to know. Maybe they decided to terminate the script at 4:4x, but I doubt it.

Who knows SQL...UCs are so ambiguous this year..we shall see

UCs are so ambiguous this year

I'll agree with you on that point.

I got the e-mail. I live in the bay area. Does this mean I'm in? Because I'm not driving to Milpitas just to get rejected

noo doubt.

im pretty sure online decisions will be posted by march 31st so you might as well rsvp and if you do get accepted (Which i think you will) then you can go and if you dont, then dont go. In any case, im still convinced this is a acceptance thing.

I think it'd be rather cruel of them to label you as "exceptional" and then reject you. That said, I think decisions will be out by then anyway, unless perhaps the event is like a early notification time, after which the decisions will be released online.

anyone else getting the message

" Unable to validate your PID/PAC. "
when trying to log in??
all my friends are getting that msg right now
MEANS SOMETHING??

nvm lol hahaha

:/ 1hr from Milpitas, didn't get the email
2140 SAT, 3.96 GPA

SQL: (referring to your post a few pages back). I didn't get Scholar's day invite or this email, does that mean I'm not tier 1, 2, or 3? = most likely rejected?
I thought my stats were pretty average for SD: 4.0, 2120, 800SAT II, 780SAT II....

your sats are extremely above average for UCSD ^

pmcharkins are you by any chance a URM, because I am, and maybe that's why I got the e-mail, since my stats were just average. So maybe it's just a thing for recruiting URMs.

^What's "URM"?

URM = under represented minority

I asked a couple of my friends who applied to SD if they got the e-mail and they all said yes (AND they were all people who I knew had really high scores, so that's why I asked; to disprove flong's theory).

Their stats:

Person (1)
-not an under represented minority
-one B in her whole high school career
-a 2290 on the SAT
-got accepted to Georgetown (early decision)
-Biology major

Person (2)
-again, not an under represented minority
-4.1 UC GPA (he got like four B's)
-2070 on the SAT
-anthropology major

Person (3)
This person got accepted to Stanford, has *never received a 'B' grade in her high school academic record, and you can imagine what her SAT score is (!!!). (a Biology major too, by the way..and she's Asian)

So therefore, I do not agree with the theory that the e-mails were not sent to the top-tiers. HOWEVER, my theory is that they were only sent to the people who live near the bay area.

haha, nah im not a URM...

I guess i have some pretty good EC's though

500 hours comm. service
4 years Varsity Cross Country (senior captain)
4 years Varsity track (senior captain)
4 years student council

babyblue: so they all got the email but none got scholars invites?

sounds suspicious to me...
