I know they have a TAP program, but what about Tag? Thanks.

noperszzzz

What about UCB?

UCB has no transfer programs at all. SMC has had a 98% acceptance rate w/ TAP last couple of years. Some say it's b/c the students who did are smarter than average. proly true.

Hmm...well I know of a couple of people who have transfered to UCB and said it wasn't difficult. So you probably won't need any kind of programs.

Only UCLA has a TAP program?

TAP only matters for College of Letters & Science though....one of my friends who is in EE did TAP....later he found out it doesn't even apply for him lol poor bastard

Well i'm going to get major in a science field, so do I qualify?

What if you are not part of the TAP program, is it still difficult to transfer into UCLA? What is the accpetance rate of transfer students?

Without TAP you can still transfer to UCLA. Although it is definitely easier to get in because of TAP, but then, if you do have a lower GPA sometimes TAP won't even help you. I have tons of friends who transfered to UCLA without TAP, it all depends on your GPA.
I often hear some TAP students end up getting lower GPAs because the courwork is too hard for them.
But that's for you to decide. I ended up not doing TAP because of various reasons, sometimes I wish I do but then, remember as long as you keep up your GPA, write a GOOD personal statement, you should be fine. I know of people who got into UCLA with 3.0 to 3.2 GPAs without TAP. But that's not to say you should aim that low too, of course. Afterall, not ALL 3.0 or 3.2's get into UCLA..

Well I was on the UCLA website and it said that in 2005 they had a transfer accpetance rate of 39.95%...that seems kind of low...is it that there are alot of students who don't put in enough effort or something?

Anyone know?

well not neccessarily about the effort. Percentages aren't an actual measure on how hard students are trying to get in. UCLA will accept about 5000 students every year. And the precentages vary according to the number of people applying. There was about 13,000 students for 2005. UCLA just can't accept every single 13,000 who has great stats, it varies.

and it's literally 40%, so the acceptance rate isn't all that terrible.

remember that transfer acceptance rate might include those from cal state, other ucs and Out of State. So unless its only for CCers, that percentage should be pretty high

With the amount of people getting in with TAP, it might as well be considered TAG (Not bashing on them...I am one of them)

The UCLA counselor told me TAP did not really matter unless you have a borderline gpa.

I know this thread was long ago and I’m recently in pursuit of transferring to UCLA in two years as a transfer student to major in Architecture. My curiosity is expanding on this TAP program that i’ve never heard of. What exactly is it?

It’s a program where once you complete your CC’s honors program, you become TAP certified. This means you get priority admission into UCLA and the ability to apply with an alternate major increasing your chances further. The qualifications to be TAP certified is based on the requirements your CC sets, so make sure you get all the info your CC provides because each CC has slightly different requirements.
