I'm only a sophomore but I'm pretty worried about the emphasis W&M puts on SAT I.

after a few years of watching admissions here and being at the school, I can say confidently that W&M admissions is not numbers based. They really look at the whole application.

that said, obviously gpa and SAT are important.

be proactive..my kid's SAT improved by huge numbers from soph to senior fall year...you may be a serious sophomore but even so the brain changes so fast from here till your early 20s...definitely read SAT review books. My best tip: Order the answer book to the Real SATs or whatever the book with the ten SATs is called..the answer book is done by a diff company...and study the answers..they explain so much about what the questions are looking for...Get familiar with the SAT ...you have time. And give the ACT the same amt of attention if you don't like your SAT outcomes..it is a diff style test. Summer is a good time to buy a book and start getting the feel for the exams...once you understand the test structure you can go for speed and time use skills next...be optimistic. and proactive re testing. my kids did it at home on a few Sundays or lazy summer days. no classes.

Definitely take it a few times, especially if you don't like the numbers you started with. Mine changed drastically (up and down) each time I took it. That said, even good scores do not guarantee you getting in - the essays, ECs, and how you portray yourself matter a lot too.
