Just some questions:
During the breaks when the dorms close, do I need to more my things out? What about during the summer break? Will I be able to keep the same room for the next year? I live far from the school and don't want to be lugging things around all of the time.

You don’t have to pack up your stuff for winter break or spring break, no worries. For summer, you will have to clean your room out, even if you have the same room for the next year. There are rooms in every dorm (in BJ we have a “trunk room”) where you can store most of your stuff for the next year, though they recommend that you don’t store expensive things like computers and printers.

Also, students that do not want to/cannot go home during Winter or Spring break may stay for free in South Campus, if you already live in South or can find a friend/friend of a friend who lives there and is willing to let you stay in their room.

Staying in South Campus is a pain, though. You have to get the signature of your RH and the signature of your friend’s RH. Then you have to go all the way down to the Housing Office which is not so close. It’s almost always much easier to just ask someone who has an apartment.
