What is the best dorm in West Campus?

thanks

one of the new ones, becker or cook or the other one that was just built

which are the newer ones? ty

the gothics are a hit or miss in terms of rooming size, you can be in a 3 room double (you share a common room-and get to pay a double's housing fee), or you can be in a cramped single. Regardless, the smallest single in the gothics is the standard size for a single in the newer dorms - Becker and Cook. The good thing about Becker and Cook is that most live in suite style, so you have a living room for about 4-6 ppl, and that's the most that will share your bathroom. In the gothics, you can end up sharing with up to 11 other people (2 showers, 1 toilet, 2 sinks). It's really up to you, and what you like. I lived in the gothics both my soph and junior yr, and I loved it. I lived in North Baker and Baker tower so i got all the perks of Cook but also the bad - mandatory meal plan :(

ps. the hills can be bad on some days.

"the smallest single in the gothics is the standard size for a single in... Becker and Cook"

I was under the impression that Becker and Cook had the largest rooms?

What exactly is suite style? I've heard it used multiple times but I still don't quite understand it. Is it like multiple rooms plus a living room within one giant suite? Or is it section of a hall? Or something else? I've tried looking at www.housing.cornell.edu but nothing really quite explains it.

"What exactly is suite style?"

According to http://ri.campuslife.cornell.edu/ri_page_view.asp?catID=744, the FAQ on West Campus Housing Initiative,

"Each house will accommodate about 360 students and will provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as access to a snack pantry. Each residential suite will consist of three single rooms, one double room, a living room, and a bathroom. There will be a large common room adjacent to the dining unit, for house dinners and a wide variety of programs. Seminar rooms, a music practice room, a computer room, a library, a TV lounge, a mailroom, and faculty/program offices also will be provided. A guest suite will accommodate visiting faculty members, guest artists, etc."

Becker, Cook, and the new Hans Bethe house are all pretty much the same and are suite style.

the gothics are really pretty from the outside and inside is hit-or-miss for room size like quynh2007 said
