Dorms Matchup

I wanted to try perhaps a dorm matchup for those that are accepted that way there is a better chance of getting a decent roommate. At least if we dont get any matchups, we will have the chance to learn about each other.

PERSONALITY IN DETAIL (What kind of person are you, who do you clash with):

3 ADJECTIVES THAT DESCRIBE YOU:

I probably have almost a 100% chance of heavily clashing with the roommate i get.

If you are anything like me, let me know so I can save myself from a lot of roommate misery/Bigotry. Im heavily involved in alternative culture and mindsets.

My Stuff:

GENDER: Female

NAME: Sarah
EMAIL:sayspo (at) gmail (dot) com

RESIDENCE HALL CONSIDERATIONS (in order of preference): Mudge, Anything but stever (its like the barracks).

RACE: White

SEXUAL PREFERENCE: Straight

CITY: Shamokin (Bum Stick Town)

CITY TYPE (urban, suburban, town, rural): Its technically a city. The place crashed about 50 years ago with the fall of coal. Its like pittsburgh and steel, but far worse. It lost about 60% of its population. Houses are abandoned and cheap. Relatively high gang activity for the size. The past two papers I got read: Riots, bloods and abandoned house falls over. Im not joking. Generally, huge urban decay and drug activity. AKA, im working class.

STATE: PA

SCHOOL ACCEPTED TO (within CMU): CIT

MAJOR: ECE

RELIGION: Non-Affiliated, but i believe in god. I am NOT rooming with a Christian unless he/she is open-minded. I practice Psionics, which is a scientific form of magick. Im not a hoo ha. If you dont like it, **** off.

POLITICAL BELIEFS (D/R, Lib/Cons, or state important issues & stances): Liberal, but im not heavily involved.

SPORTS: Naps

STUDY HABITS (1-10, 10=quadruple major) 5

DRINK/PARTY (1-10): I dont drink or party, but I will tolerate it if i have to. Id rather someone with the same musical taste than someone that doesnt drink.

DRUG SENSITIVITY (1-will nark - 5-I do them) 2

OPENMINDEDNESS (1-10, 10=most open) 10/11

TOLERANT OF OTHERS (1-10, 10=no one can **** me off) 7.

PITTSBURGH SAVVY? (1-5, 5=know it like the back of my hand): 2

PRIVACY (1-5, 5=super private): 3-4

TIDINESS (1-5, 5=impeccably immaculate): 4. I dont mind mess, im tolerable, just no moldy pizzas and i dont want the dorm completely littered with clothes or used condoms.

CLEANLINESS (1-5, 5=never smell): 4

PROMISCUITY (1-5, 5=many lovers):1- not a fan of sex in the dorms. I will tolerate it a few times, but not on a regular basis.

LEVEL OF INDEPENDENCE (1-5, 5=loner): 4

SNORE (Y/N): no

MORNING PERSON (Y/N): hell no. I dont mind other people that do.

HOBBIES: MUSIC, very ART oriented , Philosophy, Alternative Movements. Sewing. I dont make that foo foo crap.
Making things do other things they arent supposed to, I build computers, but im more of an enthusiast there- id stick computer hardware in something that wasnt meant to house it. I dont game. Its purely and art statement.
INTERESTS:
MUSIC. Im a goth/deathrocker (Goth subculture - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Deathrock - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). Im the real deal. I dont shop at hot topic, i dont wear clown baggy zipper pants, i dont listen to marilyn manson or slipknot. I dont wear make up (I dont like fake.) Real goth is more of an intellectual movement. I enjoy engaging in intellectual topics, philosophy, reading (not writing) poetry, I like engaging in life/death arguments. I dig anything really weird, out of the ordinary, fringe, alternative. I go to music venues ( wont go to anything thats not live music, forget djs.). I have a thing about life and death and the whole process.

Im very very arty. I like the dada movement, hans arp type stuff, surrealism, though i dont dig the freud symmetry. Im heavily schooled in college level psychology. I might bring art stuff to my dorm.

Psionics- read the religion area above. If you cant tolerate that, then there is going to be some problems. I am lenient about your stuff too, so if you practice Druidism, are a satanist, pagan, buddhist, wiccan, practice any lucifer religions or anything where many people would/could have a problem- i dont. I dont care for catholics because of their past, but i have a bro that attends a catholic private school (its non-profit/low budget, around/under $1000/semester for non-catholics. He was pulled out of public because of a reputation.) Im tolerant, but please dont push your religion on me.

I have a weird idea about organization. I am pretty clean (i dont leave clothes around, or have stuff all over), but i might put a contacts case on the floor in a corner along with contact solution and say its put away/ organized. Im abit eccentric.

I dont take any medications and i dont have any sort of record.

You might catch me meditating or similar in your room.

BAD HABITS: I am very intolerant of what i term bad music (in my eyes/ears). Bad Music: pop rock, emo, anything and everything on the radio, most rap is really bad, dont pull that gansta ****e.

Nothing like paramore, good charlotte, or anything like panic at the disco. Hardcore is lousy but i will tolerate it. I WILL make you use headphones.

However, I will play my goth out loud. Yes, I have a double standard.

Name brands make me angry. I dont like walking billboards. I will wear say, gap, but nothing that says the name of the brand visibly on it. If you are obsessed with name brands, we are going to have problems. However, i dont care what you look like, or if you have fat rolls. I dont care if you smoke (but im not fond of anything illegal that can get me in any kind of trouble).

I stay up pretty late. Im respectful though if you say you have a test tomorrow, and/or i am being loud, its late, and you need sleep.

I have punk/deathrock jackets and a skull sculpture i made.

HABITS YOU HATE: Dont brag about your money, or your very expensive car. Dont brag about yourself. I dont like it when you talk about other people negatively if you dont really know that person. I dont like moldy pizza on the floor and used condoms. Please take a bath at least once every two days.

Im tolerable pretty much. I dont mind snoring. If you are tolerable to me, its only right im tolerable to you.

Dont steal my stuff or go through my stuff. You can use my food once in awhile just as long as you ask.

Im pretty chill.

FAVORITE TOPICS OF CONVERSATION: read above. Philosophy, weird stuff, alternative movements, anything art related, death related, anything intellectual. Linux too.

3 FAVORITE MOVIES: Lost Boys, Poltergeist, Gothika, Alternative stuff.

3 FAVORITE MUSICIANS OR GENRES: Deathrock/ Goth, shoegazer is pretty funky too along with abit of darkwave. Read above concerning this. Dont attach stereotypes. Bands (im naming more than three, i dont care.): Alien Sex Fiend, Bauhaus, Cinema Strange, Skeletal Family, Sisters of Mercy, Danse Society, Death in June, Therion, Nightwish, abit of Cradle, Children of Bodom, Old Sepultura, Suicidal Tendencies, Specimen, Shadow Project. I could go on for awhile.

3 FAVORITE TV SHOWS: Television is evil. I dont watch it, at all. I am tolerable to it though, and dont mind if other people are watching it. I just dont like mtv or "reality shows". I might get an episode or two of house in on the net.

FAVORITE BOOK: Phaedo, The Design of Everyday things, How to Persuade other to act favorably, Psionics-related stuff. Alternative stuff.
FAVORITE FOODS: i eat mainly ramen, microwave meals and dollar menu type stuff now. When i move out, im definitely going to treat myself better. Im a tea drinker. I will probably go for more of the organic type stuff... im really sick of the grease and flavor packets. I do like some slavic foods, such as pigeon, pierogi, cabbage. I probably wont cook it in the dorm because cabbage stinks and i dont like to **** people off. Im german in origin, however.
FAVORITE STORE: -------------------Dont shop/online.
OTHER FAVORITES?: thats pretty much it.

PERSONALITY IN DETAIL (What kind of person are you, who do you clash with):
See above. any really material type of person, generally.

3 ADJECTIVES THAT DESCRIBE YOU:

Artsy
Goth ** - dont attach the hot topic/marilyn manson/slipknot stereotype please, read above.
Into Alternative Culture, enuff' said.

^ lol!

I'm sorry for the "lol" - you sound like you're trying to be open and yet... I think you are the one who is going to have to be more open-minded. you come off as being picky, is all

LOL, my son at CMU likes Nightwish, but he's not goth at all, just learned to like Finnish metal groups from his younger brother. (My personal favorite is Apocalyptica.)

@mathmom I don't care

:)

I like Nightwish, but I'm not exactly into the death metal/goth scene. However, like philosophical and intellectual conversations and I agree with your aversion to anything materialistic. Though I am inclined to agree with static75 - you might have to work a little hard to find someone you'll really like rooming with.

Holy cow, you wrote a friggin essay.

oh, and do freshman usually pick their roomate? I was actually looking forward to being thrown into the same room with a total stranger upon arriving in the fall

^ haha, yeah, me too. I like surprises :P

I was kind of hoping there would have been more people willing to post stuff by now... geez. Maybe yall are waiting for RD?

Yeah yeah. I know. I just have my specific thing going on, and people need to be able to "tolerate" it. Its not "well you have to be gothic too and dress the same way and do the same stuff." Get me?

Thats fine.. just need to be able to tolerate it. AKA dont have a fit that im satanic or what have you because im not. Also dont talk about me negatively towards other people. "Putting up with" is probably the key words here. Major?

Well thats how you get matches, hm?

Well people may be waiting for their decisions to know if they're in or not yet :) Are you accepted ED or did you already find out RD?

Will be tomorrow? Dont they post online 3 days after? Though they may decide to wait until tuesday because of sunday. ED.

metalforever, are you asking for my major? My intended major is Social and Decision Science/Political Science.

Even though I know CMU won't put up the results online until Tuesday, I still have the urge to check the site every 2 seconds. Argh! Come already.

and im compulsively checking to find out my official financial aid award.... but thats mostly because my EFC didnt hit zero and i know my parents arent going to contribute ...at all (itd be a cold day in hell, they wouldnt even fill out the financial aid forms unless I cut my hair, had to get the school involved.)

and yes I was. See I have a problem because im an ECE major and im female. Im not going to find someone to room with with the same major, anyway. I might do a double major or some sort of minor in the Economics department though, depending on the workload. I took it because there was nothing left to take in those slots, but for some reason it comes naturally. I dont know, i might.

^

So you want to room with someone in the ECE major like you are? I personally wouldn't mind what major my roommate will be; as long as we can stand each other fairly well and have interesting conversations, I'd be fine. I was considering Economics, but I hear CMU's Economics department is mostly math-based, and I don't like math...lol. This is my problem with CMU in general. I don't like math or science, so I applied to HSS. It's a great school, but I'm a little disappointed that I'm going to have to make myself like math and science, at least for the first year when I'm taking the required courses.

Nope, aka I dont mind. This is mainly because you go to college to meet different people, and well, there are almost no females in the ECE department.

As far as math goes, the upper maths seem to me like crossword puzzles (say, sudoku), and I just think those are oodles of fun. I know, im a weirdo. But its better for me than studying, say, History.

I also like drawing pictures. Drawing graphs to me is fun because im a weirdo. So i decided, well, ECE sounds pretty fun. Also, Im hoping my job is less repetitive in engineering than someone that studies psychology, for instance. Same goes for programming because you are creating stuff with symbols, and to me thats like a puzzle too, not to mention Im pretty good at computer hardware.

You also have to understand that Economics is also a lot of drawing graphs, or at least understanding them. Ive had some political science classes, and I would prefer that to many other things, and I actually did pretty good in my college (dual enrollment) gov class, but thats nothing like what you might be studying.

I'm taking AP Econ right now at school, and most of macroeconomics was concept-based, not math-based. Now micro is math-based, which isn't as exciting. I like econ, but I feel like it's too flat for me. I've always been more of a right-sided thinker, so subjects like history and English come much more naturally to me. Though I do always welcome a nice math challenge or riddle (including Sudoku and chess and some other fun things). I guess if I go to CMU, I'll have to adjust to the fact that I'll be using my left brain a lot more than I would really like to, haha.

I still get along with left-brained people fine. I'm glad you like drawing pictures, and if they be graphs, that's fine too. Actually I used to design websites in my spare time. With all the HTML and CSS and stuff. Wow, how things have changed...

@bco09 - Are you sure? I'll give you some Black roses. ;)

Maybe I just had a great AP Micro teacher, but we did so little math, and all the math was extremely basic.

Then again, I took Micro while taking BC Calculus, so the graph stuff was just really obvious to me. On the AP test, in fact, I used a lot of calculus type stuff (if you think of micro graphs in terms of derivatives and such, it gets really easy)

I'm doing ECE, and I'm a girl. but yeah, we're rare birds :)
