Oooh, be very careful with that one…because in the last few months, I’ve seen that look morph into a “Kate” (of Jon & Kate) and that’s not a look many of us would want these days.

Oooh, be very careful with that one…because in the last few months, I’ve seen that look morph into a “Kate” (of Jon & Kate) and that’s not a look many of us would want these days.

“My hair is fine; it used to be very thick, but now it is just average.”

We have the same hair. Last night, after putting off a hair cut for a YEAR, I went to a friend who is a Hollywood stylist and he gave me a fantastic cut.(In exchange for a dinner out) I just told him to do anything he wanted. It took over an hour and involved very subtle layering, length just touching my shoulders, no brushing, gentle twisting of strands with a soft warm air blow dryer. And just a DAB of product. No longer frizzy or flat, with nice flattering soft curl.
Slept in it overnight and it still looks WONDERFUL. I am one happy old mom.

“I’ve seen that look morph into a “Kate” (of Jon & Kate)”

When I asked my friend to do whatever he wanted last night. He said “careful–say that now days and ya might end up with a Platinum Gosselin”

What’s up with Kate Cut? On this season’s Medium, Allison Dubois (Patricia Arquette) changed her hairstyle to something that looks like a Kate Cut!

[screams…] It has a name…

Kate Cut(aka Platinum Gosselin)----It’s the post millennial “Princess Di”.

I had a Princess Di and it was flattering. The thing is, people were generally fond of Di…

I think at one point in the eighties we ALL had the Di. But the Gosselin? We need to break the grip reality TV has on our lives and that begins with our hair. Just say no! :)

Mafool: I also have fine hair and I have been having great luck with Aveda hair products. I am also allergic to perfume so I have a hard time using a lot of beauty products due to the scent. Aveda uses all natural scents and so far none have bothered me. I have just a slight wave to my hair naturally, but I can get a spiral curl look plus extra body with Aveda products. I find them well worth the money.

Someone commented on finding skinny-leg jeans that aren’t low rise in the back (or front): I love my Not Your Daughters Jeans! I have a new pair of black ones with stretch that are so comfy, fit perfectly, and can be tucked into boots. I also bought another pair that are leggings-tight, but thick material. Those are to wear with long sweaters and boots.

Wow, sorry I’m so out of the reality TV stuff I barely know who this Kate is of whom you speak. And it even has a name! I’m guessing we like to hiss at this kate person? Ok we don’t want to look like that. It’s just that I’ve a modified cut like that for the last few years and found it flattering, not old but current enough. I’m way overdue for a cut thinking of growing it out a bit so maybe we’ll just continue along that road.

About the skinny jeans, has anyone been told that tucking them into boots is TOO young a look for us? First of all, it’s hard enough to get the right fit of jean to tuck in in the first place and it’s quite the ordeal to accomplish the actual task trying to keep them smooth and not blousing out like the old knickers of the past. But when the stars aligne and you get it right it looks fantastic. But then someone said ‘isn’t that look a little young for you?’

I guess it’s time to bring back stirrup pants!!!

WHO said “isn’t that look a little young for you?” The comeback for that is: “Isn’t that remark a little rude for you?”

This is Annie Leibowitz on photographing Queen Elizabeth II for the 400th anniversary of Jamestown:

Okay, so Elizabeth would have been 81 at the time. So maybe that’s the answer- when you’re 81, that’s too old for the thin pants tucked into boots look.

“she didn’t wear riding clothes anymore”

nude Queen E. on a horse. Makes your flesh crawl. Not a good look.

bookiemom - great comeback!

Yes, a great comeback. This from the meow mix club at a performance ds was in. They of the fake tans, bad bleach jobs, french manis, boob jobs and cleavage down to there. Sorry you may be 20 years younger than me but I look way better. So there!

No more links! Just kidding, really, I am lusting for some tall black boots ( I already have two pairs of black boots, but they’re not the cool taller kind). I saw three pairs that fit the bill! Haven’t ordered them…yet. Don’t really need them…but I would love to wear them with skinny jeans and a long black sweater. Of course, that would mean another purchase…or two. This thread is NOT good for my budget.

Boots! My gf (who runs a teen consignment store) & I were out the other day (she is young, beautiful & super skinny) — she had on skinny jeans and this awesome pair of motorcycle boots (distressed, brownish). I’ve wanted a pair like those for years!

Would wearing jeans over such boots be ultra unstylish? I’m not as skinny as stylish friend (she’s 105 at 5’ 8") so not sure how the tight jeans would look tucked in.

LOL at canamdance “meow mix.”

LOL, toneranger. I windowshop on the Internet. I just ordered some boots for D. We had a lengthy e-mail exchange, something like this:

“Do these look OK?”
“Nope. How about these?”
“$200? And they look kind of drab. Maybe these?”
“These are perfect, mom, b’cos they are waterproof!”

OMG, my D did not fall for fancy boots with stiletto heels, she wants a reasonable pair that she can actually walk in! Made my day. It must be snowing already in Boston.

I can tell you a trick that I use to keep my skinny pants from “ballooning” out of the boots. I tuck them into my comfy socks then put my boots on Who’s gonna see inside the boots?
