Hi! i applied to Drexel University using VIP app and when i went to check my status on discover.drexel it says, "We have evaluated your file and are pleased to inform you that you are now on our waiting list for admission to Drexel University. An official letter will be sent to you by mail shortly."
does this mean that i am on waiting list?
I have 1290 in SAT (750 - math, 540- reading)
3.95 GPA (took about 10 honors + AP courses)
I do not have too many activities but i do have:
tennis - 3 years (varsity)
E.R.A.S.E - club for one year
community work - 1 year
worked as a cashier - 4 months
I really can not believe that i am on waiting list.
Also, my teachers did not send my letter of rec yet (is this the reason why i am on waiting list?)
Thank you.

Your acadmics are higher than kids I know who were accepted, but it does sound like Waiting List. You can wait for the letter, or call, or have a GC call, re the missing rec

What major did you apply for?

Hi infamous,

Ill have to agree with yabeyabe2 on this one. Your stats are higher than most applicants but it sounds like waiting list =/. This amazes me because it is a rolling school and u must have applied early. What is also weird is that they said “Congrats”. I would give them a call or something to make sure…weird…

Regards,
Google

thank you very much for trying to help me. Also, i applied for mechanical engineering 4 years…
I will call them as soon as possible. Thank you again.

same thing happened to me
although my sats scores are not as high as yours my
gpa is high
and i do many extra curriculars
and i was sure i would get in but i got waitlisted
(i used the vip app)
i called and unfortunately we are waitlisted
and they review the group of people waitlisted every week
but it may or may not take a while

i applied through VIP too and I checked my status today and saw the same msg: “we are pleased to…” which is ridiculous because how can they be pleased!!! did you receive any other information? did you get accepted? Drexel U. and Emmanuel college are my safeties this brought me down I already got accepted into Emmanuel.

congratulations on Emmanuel! but unfortunately i havent recieved any info except the mail they promised to send, nothing special in the mail it says the same thing. But im totally bummed because it was the first school that got back to me and i havent heard back from other schools yet so im starting to doubt myself. :(

havent gotten a response from drexel yet.

Surprised you are on waitlist, and I know the waiting is hard, but I’m confident with your stats you will be in.
I honestly wish that deadlines and acceptances were on standardized times. DS is fairly sure he will not be attending Drexel, but since he has to wait for his final decision from another school, is not willing to yet give up his spot. I hate that it makes highly qualified admits like you have to wait. Hang in there :)

S was accepted but unless some decent financial aid is received, he won’t be able to attend - so spaces will be opening up.

^^^^^,
Unfortuneately, more spaces will NOT open up if your son decides not to go,even though he was accepted…The reason is colleges always “over subscribe” their offers of acceptance, knowing that a significant portion of those accepted will choose other schools…

Hi. I applied to Drexel using the VIP Application. I got my response through the internet portal about two weeks ago, stating that I have been placed on the wait list? Can someone read through my stats and give me their honest opinion about whether I belong on the wait list or should I have been accepted already? I don’t mean to sound cocky or overconfident but Im just really confused right now. Help!

Cumulative GPA: 4.49
Class Rigor: All IB courses with the exception of religion, which is not an ib course neither can it be a honors course in my high school
Class Rank: 2 out of 120
SAT Scores: Reading: 520, Math: 500, Writing: 610

Your SAT scores are very low. Is your GPA weighted? out of how many total points? Do you have any ECs? What is your intended major?
