Drinking in parties

I am allergic to alcohol but I dont wanna be left out. I still wana go to parties but not drinking also means not being able to participate...

Any ideas to overcome this?

Thanks

Wow that sucks.

that’s sad, like being allergic to chocolate or happiness.

A lot of people don’t drink in college…
I don’t know you or your personality or if you’re planning on going Greek…
but maybe you shouldn’t hang out with people that party all the time.

What are your allergic symptoms?

Just go and talk to people.

Alternatively, try other intoxicating (safe) substances.

Even people who drink don’t always drink to get drunk. They should be perfectly capable of conversation at parties. Unless the party is out of control, you’ll be able to have a good time.

You could be a really good designated driver.

You could be a really good designated driver.

Thats the last thing I would want to do because I get all the responsibility while loosing all the fun…

There are other mind altering substances albeit illegal, so…

…Other less harmful, yet illegal substances…

Seriously though, just smoke some green diesel before a party and you’re guaranteed to have a great time :)

Why not?

You don’t have to drink at a party. I know a few people who don’t drink but they still have fun. Also, don’t be a designated driver, it really sucks.

non-alcoholic beer and stuff?

You’re better off being the guy with the water bottle than the guy with the O’Douls.

Or you could go off and find some non-alcoholic beer nobody has heard of, like Lammsbrau.

Or take a water bottle and tell people it’s vodka.

do it anyway; it would be really funny if you had a reaction at a party.

Ditto the water bottle. It does look pretty real. I’ve walked down frat row with a water bottle (with water, not vodka inside), and people ask me if they can take a shot…they think it’s vodka. And I’ve been stopped by cops who also thought it was vodka (trying to bust me for carrying alcohol underage >:O)

How severe is your allergy? I have the same problem, but I can drink a small amount.
I call it being a cheap date.

In any event, you can always go out. You might not be able to get rip roaring drunk, but you can still have fun. At the very least get some good stories out of how your buddies did XYZ. Don’t let it hold you back from the party scene.

It’s better to go and be sober than do nothing at all.

Mike

my allergy isnt relly severe but still enough to make me really uncomfotable… thing is games like pong i wouldnt be able to play…boo

Please don’t drink if you have an allergy. It’s not worth making yourself sick, trust me.

I have a bunch of intolerances to things like caffeine and alcohol, but I hang out with some people who drink on the weekends and still manage to have a good time. The key is to party with people who drink responsibly–you don’t want to be the one who always has to clean up after your friends. Going to parties within walking distance removes the “designated driver by default” situation altogether.

And really, there are much worse things in the world than not being able to play beer pong. You won’t be missing much.

EDIT: Just having a cup/container of some sort in your hand helps if, like me, you don’t feel like explaining your medical conditions to all of the random people who ask why you’re not drinking.
