I'm currently a sophomore who is 15 years old. I also live int he state of Texas I am turning 16 in March. I have been wanting to get a drivers license. Not for fun, but so i can start working, and join various after school clubs. You see my mom is single so I am not really able to join many clubs because I don't really have a ride. I can either do a program offered by sears($400) or an online program ($200). Can someone walk me through the steps of getting a driver's license? When will i get my permit? How long would it take? <p>I think in most states you will need some kind of behind the wheel training, and I don’t know how the online program could do that. You should look around for local drivers ed places though, go talk to friends that already did drivers ed and see where they did it. My class, including behind the wheel, was just over $300, which is pretty reasonable.</p>
