Which dorms are the best at UT? and what's the greek scene like?

any dorm in the presidential courtyard are the most popular. Reese and North Carrick for guys and Humes and South Carrick for girls. The greek scene is very good, but not as good as alabama and ole miss

Thanks! Is rush at UT considered really selective/ tough to get into if you’re an OOS student?

Also, for the dorms:
- do you have to request a loft bed or do they come in all rooms?
- if you have to request one, do they give you one or do you bring your own???
- do you have to assemble the loft yourself if they give you one? -__-
- do they cost extra if they don’t come with the room?

I don’t know much about the greek scene, to tell the truth, but it seems as though it wouldn’t be too hard to a OOS student to get into. Just get there early on move-in day, is the general thing that I’ve seen. Of course, like I said, not sure. You should go to UTK’s site and look at the fraternity/sorority section to see what they say and ask questions. They are very receptive!

Last I checked, Hess, Clement, Gibbs and Morrill automatically comes with a loft bed, and a desk underneath. I am somewhat sure that all other rooms will rent out loft beds to students who request them, or allow you to bring your own.

Like I said, they can rent one to you, as it is a very popular option. However, bringing your own is perfectly acceptable.

To tell the truth, I do not know. I have been told by students that there are people on hand to help for certain rooms. A sorority girl told me that there were plenty of people to help her move in and get everything up and ready, but that might just be a greek thing. They might help, but you should be prepared. They don’t seem too difficult to set up, though, as many people use them.

Not that I know of. They say rent, but I think that is just a semester decision. Of course, I can find no where that says outright that you have to pay or not and don’t have anyone currently attending to ask right now.
